GREAT HOTEL LOVELY VIEWS
Found this Hotel on the website, they have any easy to use online reservations system. When we arrived at the Hotel we were welcomed by Debbie on reception she informed us of the complimentary afternoon tea served each afternoon of our stay and showed us to our room on the first floor. No lift so be prepared to carry your bags. We were offered porterage but my bags weren't too heavy for me to carry Our room had a superb view of Penzance harbour and St Michaels Mount. There is freeview flat screen TV in our room which pleased my wife... more
Overrated, overpriced, surly manager.
Elegant, pricey, classy, and clean, the Penzance Hotel questions value. We all have our price/comfort standards, and the final judgment is about value, not price. From the website, you would get the sense that Penzance Hotel was on the waterfront, but it’s not, really, it’s in a neighborhood, with more views of roofs than sea. With an excellent dinner and first-class breakfast, this was a $ 400.night. Was it worth it? We had a “sea view” upgraded room, which turned out to be a converted attic space, postage-stamp in size,... more
Management response from Kehribar

We have lots of room types and styles, and are happy to discuss variations directly with guests to make sure they have just what they want. As this is quaint Cornwall, and the Hotel is a late Victorian conversion, most people choose us for exactly that character. Indeed we get asked for the attic rooms precisely for the better overview of the Harbour and town. The $:£ conversion rate had a lot to do with this reviewer's perceptions [2:1] of value, and you can draw your own conclusion about an overnight stay entitling the guest to 2 'free' hours internet access. - the 'nasty manager' was me - the owner - I hold my hands up - I was firm in the face of an overbearing bullying individual who had reduced Debbie to tears with his attitude. It is almost unheard of that we are anything other than obliging and hospitable, but even we must be firm on occasion

Nice food shame about the hotel ...
Stayed here for 2 nights in Feb. No idea how this hotel could have won Cornwall hotel of the year 2006 with a Gold Award. The hotel is squeezed onto the hill above Penzance bay and the railway station. There is a small steep car park with wall to wall cars in all the adjoining streets – even in Feb. The grounds are nice if steep and small with a swimming pool that has seen far better days. The hallways and stairs are tired and smell of smoking. The lounges and rooms are better but problems with brown hot water and a useless shower were... more
Management response from Kehribar

Not quite sure how we can offer more car parking space, this is quaint Cornwall and being located on Britons Hill might give you a clue about the location. For 12 years we have been a non smoking hotel, and have been greatly assisted in compliance by the new legal requirements, but we do get the occasional 'addict' who can't resist - when we do, we use a commercial ioniser to deodourise the room on their departure. All the hotel has been refurbished since this review - and the 'brown water' problem?.. we spent hours and a king's ransom trying to rectify this. It was a SW Waterboard problem and completely out of our hands - sorry.

Great service, friendly hotel
Stayed here after a local business meeting. My customer had recommended the Hotel, but said the restaurant was quite pricey and they used it for special occasions. Initial impression was one of friendliness, the receptionist was extremely helpful and happy - which makes a change! Room was reasonable, probably needs updating a little, but very clean. Bathroom had a great shower, again could probably do with updating as had green carpet on the floor.. We decided to eat in the restaurant as it was pouring with rain, and it's a 5... more
Attention to detail
The hotel was clean and staff helpful and friendly, the bedroom has a modern airy feel, with a beautiful view over bay. It was the detail that let it down, cobwebs in bathroom, waste operating handle on basin inaccessable, and mould around the ventilating atrium, the handcream was over the bath whilst the shampoo sited next to the basin. The restaurant was pleasing and modern, the food first class, but who overlooked the cutlery which was very cheap and well used. Nice touches are the complimentary afternoon tea and bowl of fresh... more
A very sweet hotel
We stayed at Mount Prospect as a last minute thing - we had a mix up with our trip dates and the Penzance tourist board recommended the hotel. The hotel is very sweet and homely and our room was comfortable with nice touches. We were surprised to encounter the restaurant for breakfast the following morning - very modern and minimal in comparison with our room which was very quaint and english. The swimming pool looked nice although the weather wasn't very inviting when we were there. Breakfast was good. All in all, a very nice place to... more
Very Nice Stay
My partner and I both enjoyed our 2 night break here. The sea views, including some with views of the Mount, are gorgeous. Staff were pleasant, the furnishings were tasteful and the environment really made us feel like it was a home away from home. Also would highly recommend the Bay restaurant. Everything we had was top-notch.
Best By Far
My partner and I just returned home from a 3night stay in the Mount Prosect hotel, Penzance. Upon arrival we were met with friendly staff. The room was very clean and well presented with a big double bed and fantastic view of the bay. The food in the Bay Restaurant was exceptional. The beef was the best we had ever tasted and the staff remebered the little things we liked. For example, the waitress remembered what we liked for breakfast. The little touches like this made the service very personal and we would happily recommend the hotel... more
Very Nice Hotel
Very nice hotel, lovely rooms, super location, wonderful breakfast. Some of the staff were not very friendly, although it could be a language problem.
