Fantastic!
from guttedtobeback
After reading some of the reviews regarding Panas I didnt know what on earth we were letting ourselves in for! However we were very pleasantly suprised and cant understand many of the very negative comments about this place. The hotel was great, the biggest pool I have ever seen, always plenty of loungers, near the beach, if you want your room cleaned every day just leave the maid picture on your door, the food was great, always plenty of it, god you can eat nearly every hour of the day on the AI if you like, including ice cream for kids (not that we had any kids with us but noticed it with other people) the food was of a very good standard, the restaurant was absolutely immaculate, and each evening/lunch time there was a different meal including a lovely salad bar. I read some comments about the staff being miserable, well the staff must have changed as we found them absolutely lovely and some of them quite funny and my god do they work hard, some of the staff serving at breakfast were still there in the evening, still with a smile on their face, and the bar staff were great and I didnt notice any of the problems where paying customers were served before the AI customers, we were served quickly all the time The hotel was brilliantly situated, if you want to visit the highlife of aya napa it's about a 15 minute walk or just jump in a taxi, we walked it there and back as our rep assured us that it was safe to do so and even at 3/4/5 in the morning there were loads of people around! We found the entertainment each evening good fun, there was something diff on each evening and even a game of bingo, so even for all the party goers in the hotel everyone drank the AI till midnight then headed up into Aya Napa! Even during the day there was water polo, volley ball, water aerobics, football, pool competitions and darts competitions. I noticed one comment complain that the maids switch off the air con, they dont, when you enter the room you put your key in an electric socket that is what controls the air con so when you leave the room and take the key out the electric goes off including the Air Con (however the fridge stays on) we cant say anything bad about the Panas and can only thank them for giving us a bloody good holiday!!
what a nightmare

stayed at panas for a two week stay on an all inclusive basis, what a waste of money the food was practically inedible and after a week of basically starvation we had to start eating at restraunts, the staff were the rudest people i've ever met and extremely unhelpfull!! It states in the brochure that this a 4* hotel and i would say it is barely a 2*! the room was OK but very basic and the maid didnt come everyday and at one point we were infested with ants!! The hotel is in the middle of nowhere and the street where it is situated is very badly lit and there are no pavements to walk on! its ok if you want to stay in the resort but if you want to venture out it is a taxi ride to the centre or square and also a taxi ride to nissi beach! i wouldnt recommend anyone stays here if they want to go clubbing because it is just to far from the action! there were 4 of us and we were all bitterly disappointed with what service and food we recieved for the money that we paid and also for wasting two weeks precious holiday time off work to come here!
Panas Village

We spent a week at the Panas Village hotel at the beginning of June. Our daughter had decided to get married there. We had opted to go All Inclusive, because we didnt know the cost of meals, drinks etc. It was just my wife and I travelling. First problem was the 4 hour flight delay. This meant we got into Larnaka to pick up the hire car quite late. I suggest that you get yourself some good detailed maps if you propose to drive around the island. The map/brochure provided with the car (Europcar) was pathetic. We checked into the Panas Village with the night porter. Problem 2. I had not changed any UK money, and when the night porter insisted on deposits for air con remote, TV remote and safety deposit box being paid in cash, I had to change some money at the hotel - at low exchange rates. Even though they advertise that they accept most credit cards, I didnt see anyone using them - only cash. Incidentally, dont waste your time on the TV, unless you are a fluent Greek, French or German speaker. This cash turned into a problem at the end of our stay when I tried to exchange £30Cyp returned deposits for snacks etc. at the airport. I've still got some of that money left. The hotel, although clean and looked after was not what my wife and I wanted. Panas is set up to provide AI, which translated into "canteen" type food, rather than anything nicer. Consequently we ate 1 dinner there, and other than breakfast ate out every night. Tip: do B&B, and eat out. The rooms are not attended to every day, only 5 times a week. I didnt like that. Entertainment amounts to a "holiday camp" type of thing, which my wife and I do not like. The staff tried their best, but it was so very, very amateurish. The hotel staff were mainly of eastern-european origins, and almost all were impolite bordering on rude. Food in the restaurant was never replaced when it ran out. The staff attitude was deplorable. The hotel is a short walk up to the main road (Nissi road?). There, we found bars and restaurants galore, all vying for our business with cheap and well cooked meals, reasonably priced drinks, and so on. I would not go AI again because of this. The hotel has a big, clean pool. Lots of guests used it a lot, including some eastern european guests, who were "boisterous". We got ripped off by the Orange Grove restaurant, who changed money for me at a low rate, then short-changed me. The guy who did this to me shrugged, smirked and walked away when I told him, so dont go there!! We liked Karystos' bar. Its opposite the Tasia Maris Hotel. Good food and nice ambience (via Roger, the DJ/MC). Say hello to Romi, a Bulgarian waitress who works there. She's really nice. Do visit Water World. Get your own tickets (usually discounted) The tour companies will charge you full price if you book here. A great day out for all people over 1.3 metres tall. We drove around a lot. Fig Tree Bay is quite nice, and Konos Bay looks lovely. We avoided Ayia Napa as being over-commercialised. Like Blackpool. Prices were fair, but exchange rates differed a bit, and watch the commission that they charge. I exchanged £60.00UKP at £0.84CYP, and received £47.00Cyp after the commission had been taken. This was at the Hellenic Bank. In closing, we did not like the place. As a generalism, the people were not particularly welcoming or friendly, the scenery etc. was not as nice as we have seen in other parts of the world, and the almost-routine flight delays made the journey tiring and frustrating. we wont be going back there.
enjoyable stay

Was a bit concerned about going to Panas after reading a couple of bad reviews about the food. However was pleasantly surprised. We found the food to be very good with good selection. The studio was spacious and very comfortable a bit like a Travel lodge with a kitchen and more roomspace. The maid came every day and was very efficient.About the towel change if u are bigger than petite I would suggest you take your own as the ones provided are so small.Entertainment was low key but it was the first week of the season so may well improve. We headed for senior frogs a cy£4 taxi ride away where a great bunch of staff made you feel very wellcome whatever your age, we are in our 50,s.Loved the pool area and even braved the cold water of April.I didnt notice the bar to much as they had my fav tipple scotch whiskey :0) On the whole I recon I got a good AI package deal for £350.
Great Holiday

We have been to Cyprus nine times now and this holiday was one of our best having just spent 11 nights at Panas Holiday village, it was a great holiday, we went all inclusive and was not over faced with different choices of food like you normally get when you go all inclusive, food always warm and was always being restocked when getting low. Good time of year to go, always a bed available around the pool and not to noisey. All staff very friendly and made us very welcome at all times. Apartments where very nice and also very spacious. Will being going back next same time.
Enjoyed Panas Village - Ayia Napa is a Great Place!!!

Myself and my girlfriend have just returned from 2 weeks self-catering at Panas Tourist Village in Ayia Napa and I would have to say we had a fantastic holiday! We arrived late on a Sunday evening after a 50-minute coach journey from Larnaca airport. Check-in was fast and when we arrived in our room we were very satisfied. Rooms were clean, spacious and we had two single beds pushed together to make a double (not great but it was not a problem). Each room has air-conditioning (a MUST have in Cyprus). All you need to do is give a £10 deposit to reception for the remote control. To hire a safe for 2 weeks was £16 plus a £10 deposit which you get back when you hand the key back (make sure to keep the receipts for when you hand these back). There is also a television in all rooms that you can again pay a deposit for the remote control. One major benefit was that plug sockets are the same as UK so no need for adaptors. The only minor grievance that we had when we arrived in our room was a strange smell coming from the bathroom and the fact that you are not supposed to flush your toilet paper but instead dispose of it in a small waste bin. However, overall first impressions were very good. Had a nice meal at the Acropolis Restaurant on first night which is only a 5-minute walk from the apartments. Spent next morning getting a feel for the place. Had breakfast at Gary’s Bar & Grill on Nissi Avenue as recommended by our Rep. Absolutely fantastic and really good value for money. Ate here many times during the two weeks. Spent rest of the day by pool back at Panas. The pool is massive and there were lots of sunbeds available which was great (although they were a bit tatty and could do with being replaced soon!). Although we didn’t take part in any of them, the daily activities seemed excellent and were not just solely for children. The entertainers were very friendly and seemed really good with the children. Activities included Water Polo, Volleyball, Pool, Darts and Football. Although we were not All-Inclusive, which I was kind of pleased about having read some of these reviews before we went to Panas, I thought the food was generally of a fairly high standard. However, we were only ever eating snacks such as Toasties or Salads for lunch. Lunch, dinner, etc for people on All-Inclusive was more of a buffet, which I do not really enjoy anyway. Typical price for a Cheese Toastie & Chips - £2,50 CYP (around £3 in UK money). As we were self-catering we ate out at restaurants most evenings. Places I would recommend are Sizzlers Steak House, Blueberries, Georgis and The Original Chippy if you want some true British fish and chips. A two-course meal for 2 people at Sizzlers was around £25-30 UK pounds. To sample the Ayia Napa nightlife your are best to hit the “Square”. This is streets of great bars, shops, clubs and some great restaurants (some mentioned). There is a great pub called The Square Pub (surprisingly!!!) which has fantastic live music 7 days a week. Beware in Ayia Napa as drinks are extortionate in some places (I paid £10 CYP for 2 Vodka & Red Bull in one particular nightclub, around £12 UK money). Some of the bars we visited that I would recommend are Coyotes, O’Rourkes Irish Pub, Jammin’, Bedrock and Ambassaden. To get to the “Square” from Panas is around 30 minute walk or around £4 CYP in a taxi. Always ask the driver “How Much?” before you get in to the taxi or they will charge you whatever they like. Also, definitely take a trip to Nissi Beach (best beach in Ayia Napa) during your holiday. Always busy and has a great atmosphere! We tried paragliding which was a fantastic experience. Nissi beach is around £4 CYP in a taxi or 35 minute walk. Moving back to comments on Panas Tourist Village, I think that everybody would enjoy their stay here. It is a very clean place and the staff were always very helpful and friendly. There was always good entertainment in the evenings that was suitable for everyone ranging from Cabaret and Bingo to live music and dance. Unfortunately, our apartment had an inland view so if you spent a lot of time on the balcony then ask for one with a sea view which has some fantastic views over the ocean. In terms of some of the negative comments I have read in the other reviews, some of them I would have to agree and also disagree with. Firstly, the maids were excellent and cleaned our room every day. The drinks from the bar seemed fine to myself and my girlfriend, however, sometimes it did take a long time to be served. We did see a few empty cups and bottles by the poolside but there are waste bins everywhere so I am guessing people are just too lazy. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on the All-Inclusive food but the snacks we ate at the bar were fine. Overall, I would recommend Panas Village to my friends as we really enjoyed our stay there. Many people say Cyprus is an expensive place to go on holiday but the realisation is in fact that it is the same as everywhere. Ayia Napa has something for everyone: couple, family or friends.
Lovely but shame about the Bar
from D4vory
Just back from Ayia Napa in Cyprus a great resort with everything for everybody although, like everywhere else now, a bit pricey. (Taxi min fare £5….but plenty of them at hand) Stayed at the Panas tourist village and found the accommodation really good with excellent air conditioning, good maid service and beautiful gardens. The pool was a good size with plenty of beds for everybody so no need to get up early in the morning with your towels. The location was 1k from Ayia Napa centre so whilst close to all the restaurants, fun pubs, Discos and fun-fairs was still far enough to feel safe and relaxed. Bad point was that this had the worst bar I have ever come across. The beer was clearly some cheap low alcohol rubbish and to make maters worse there was always a queue of at least 20 mins. There was a waiter one night but he brought down a pint of warm ‘slaps’ among a round of drinks. Unless the Bar is overhauled and restocked with genuine brand names and a proper service for customers I feel I cannot recommend the Panas tourist village to my friends.

Stayed at the Panas end June beginning of July this year with my husband and 16 year old daughter. This is the worst all inclusive hotel I have ever been to. The brochures stated the bar shut at midnight when in fact the all inclusive part shut at 11pm and then you had to buy drinks. Alcoholic drinks were over £3!. Breakfast was Ok but lunch and dinner was disgusting with hardly any choice, the food ran out and you had to ask for some more to be bought out. Both myself and my husband suffered from food poisening! Rooms were very basic and were not cleaned every day either - when they were it was at a very low standard. This hotel is definitely not a four star hotel as mentioned in the brochures - IT IS HARDLY A 2 STAR!! Good points - the pool was OK (although the poolside area was never cleaned and you had to walk around discarded fag ends and plastic glasses). You could also usually get a sunbed. Sophie and Max the entertainment people were BRILLIANT. Very friendly and kept everyone entertained. If it wasn't for them, I think I would have asked for an early flight home. The entertainment in the evening was kids disco, bingo and then further entertainment, ie singing, games etc. Sophie and Max did a fab job. I have stayed at many all inclusives all over Europe and the Carribean but this is by far the worst and would not recommend it to anyone - unless you want to either starve for two weeks or get food poisening!
We really enjoyed ourselves
from ukfunlover
We went to Panas in march 2005 I must say that we found our stay quite peaceful. the rooms are really clean and the staff are friendly. The food was good. And the pool was lovely. the pictures we saw on the internet didn't quite do it justice.
Honestly I can`t understand why some people had reasons to complain about Panas Holiday Village. We just came back from Cyprus, after spending 10 days there. Everything was even better than we expected before. Very friendly staff, a huge room (very clean!), gorgeous buffets... more
