Showing its age
I usually stay at the Holiday Inn in Plymouth, but found that standards had been going downhill. Well, come back Holiday Inn, all is forgiven. The Quality Inn was terrible. Room shoddy, spartan and not very clean. No obvious room service, no minibar, no internet - not much to cheer to up. Breakfast pretty unpleasant too. Not much I can say to recommend it I'm afraid. I won't be going back.
One to Miss
I decided to try out this hotel as it had free parking and close to The Hoe with amazing views. The room was on the top floor and the views were amazing. However, the room even though refurbed was not the best quality and shabby already. The bathroom was in a very sorry state and mould was visible in most areas as this had not been updated. Own main gripe was the wall thickness. You can hear everything clearly especially TV's and conversations! We had some horrid neighbours the first night who come back from clubbing at 2am and... more
Over priced shabby dump
Don't Believe the pictures of the rooms, they have only a few which look like this because i asked for one. Given a shabby dirty 70's style room not worth any where near £82. Also wanted £13 pounds for a breakfast, personally thought over priced. Lobby, bar, reception, lifts etc also shabby and not cleaned to a standard i would expect. Grey depressing concrete exterior which is in need of TOTAL demolition and rebuild. Was a last minute booking but all together worst hotel i have every exposed myself or my family to... more
A great deal on Superior rooms
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in June. The hotel has recently remodeled its superior rooms or suites on the top floor where we stayed, so I can only comment on these new rooms First the good... The location on the Hoe is fabulous, and our 9th floor room had incredible ocean views. The room was very large with new everything in a modern design. The bed was big and comfy, and there was a fridge in the room for leftovers. The bathroom was one of the best we had during our three week stay in England with a... more
What a shame.........................!
Stayed last summer for one night. Beautiful views of the Hoe from our 8th floor room. Bedroom tatty and shabby. Very disappointing. Common areas better. Breakfast average. Would not return until hotel bedrooms have been renovated.
Nothing like the brochure
I stayed with my family for one night due to travel arrangement and booked the hotel from the wonderful praise and pictures I saw on their website. The check in took 20 minutes before anyone would speak to me, then the gentleman checking me in did not know what he was doing and £200 pounds later on my credit card the manger had to come over and apologised for a new member of staff, I can forgive this. We booked two rooms. We had problems with both. Apart from being separated by 7 floors! The single room was passable for a cheap... more
Variable-Quality Hotel
I stayed at the Quality Hotel Plymouth from 30th March-2nd April 2006 and was in Plymouth for business. I checked in with ease and was allocated a room on the third floor. The room was moderate-large in size, and had a sea view. A large double wardrobe with many hangers was available, and a suitcase stand was in the wardrobe along with extra towels, a shower cap, a blanket, a trouser press and two extra pillows. In the room, a small tv showed 20+ channels, and the king size bed was quite comfortable. Two bedside tables with... more
Great View - hotel rather worn
We stayed at the Quality Hotel in July 2005 and were pleasantly surprised but then we went not expecting much. We knew that "Quality Hotel" was only the latest franchise under which this landmark hotel on the Hoe at Plymouth had traded. Having been built in the 1960s as a Posthouse, it had successively traded as a Crest hotel and then as a Holiday Inn until 2004. We had visited the public areas during final few months of its life as a Holiday Inn and had found it rather tired and a bit uncared for. The concrete facing panels on the... more
A fine ship without a rudder
My husband and I stayed at the hotel on a Friday evening in July after a long 8 hour drive from Scotland. The room was spacious, well appointed and had one of the best views I'd encountered in our 3 months in England. It also seemed very quiet for a Friday evening. We decided to eat in the restaurant which had equally spectacular views. There were clearly problems here with what would seem adequate staff, but no-one willing to take our orders. I asked for a Pimms and lemonade and waited for 25 minutes for delivery. The food was pleasant... more
