Wouldn't stay here again
We stayed here for 3 nights from the 25th May. We booked through the hotel direct and had a premium room. Frankly I would expect more from a 4 star signature hotel in terms of food and service. When we arrived we were given our room ( no offer of taking our luggage to the room though I did hear reception offer another couple), it was on the courtyard which was fine but once inside I felt like I was back at my old hall of residence. The bathroom was good separate bath and power shower but a small double of bed. At the end of the bed was an... more
Beautiful building and grounds - but not the greatest hotel
Billesley Manor is a really attractive house in beautiful grounds, and so it's not surprising that it is a popular wedding venue. After staying there for a conference, I was really confused about what image Billesley Manor is trying to portray and it's Raison d'Etre. The public areas are in keeping with the exterior of the house i.e grand, traditional, period country house with lots of wood panelling and luxurious soft furnishings. Bedrooms are in a variety of styles - from traditional to uber modern/minimalist. There is... more
Restored our faith in this Manor Hotel
We have just returned from our overnight stay at the Billesley Manor; offered to us by the General Manager to see if the facilities matched our requirements. I am pleased to say they did, we were put in room 8, a 4-poster room, smaller than room 4 but very nice all the same. Breakfast as you would expect was served from hot containers, previously it was served by waitresses following the cereals etc. I would recommend this hotel.
what a wonderful hotel
We have just returned back from a wonderful two night stay at Billesley manor. Prior to our trip we read several terrible reviews on the hotel and so were extremely apprehensive about our forthcoming stay. Infact, if we had had enough time to cancel the break then we would have done, purely as a result of those reviews. We, like Ohwell30, took advantage of Paramount Hotels 50% discount offer, a chance to stay in a luxury hotel for not such a luxury price (£339 for 2 nights dinner, bed and breakfast). On arrival at the hotel we... more
Terrible, don't stay here
This hotel is the worst we've ever stayed at. The rooms are poor quality, dirty, in need of update. Our room was 'utility', had stains, no valence on the bed, poor quality fittings, poor layout & even dangerous as things fall off walls eg toilet holder. The food was cold, then reheated rather than cooked fresh & gave us stomach problems for three days afterwards. Upon complaining they didn't care, complaining to the Paramount customer services resulted in no reply. There is no management at the hotel or it appears at the headquarters... more
Happy Xmas At The Billesley
We chose this hotel for a family gathering at Xmas as it promised a quiet, traditional atmosphere with good food in beautiful surroundings and The Billesley did not disappoint. It is a large hotel, tastefully extended to be sympathetic to the original main building. Our party all had modern, spacious, comfortable rooms with flat screen TVs, a large comfortable bed, modern bathrooms with powerful showers and good storage for clothes. The only negative aspect of the rooms were the swipe card keys which were a bit temperamental. However, the... more
Good news and bad news...
This was our third stay at Billesley Manor over the course of two years. There are very good things about this hotel and some not so good things. The low rating given is specifically because of one incident that occurred this time. In common with many hotels the Billesley Manor is used as a wedding and conference venue. We've been there before when there was a wedding - but our room was far enough away to be not very disturbed by the music, there was a midnight curfew, and the wedding itself was confined to a marquee leaving the restaurant... more
Is anybody there?
Having checked availability on the net, I attempted to contact the hotel by phone and was faced with a multiple choice. I tried reception, reservations, restaurant booking and waiting for the operator, all to no avail. Eventually I tried the Spa choice, where Gustav answered the phone very promptly. I explained the problem of not being able to get through to reception and he offerred to get the duty manager to call me back. When I got the call back I was told he was the only one on reception, there was a wedding on, they had a problem with... more
Lovely Hotel
We stayed here for one night in August 2006, booking late just the day before. The hotel looks stunning as you approach it and there was plenty of parking, despite a wedding being held there at the time. We had one of the barn rooms. Yes, these rooms are contempory and not of 'manor house' style, but we were told this by the receptionist when enquiring about availability. The room was lovely. We didn't have any problems with noise from other guests at all. The only slight problem is the lack of hanging space for clothes and... more
Made up for being sent away from the Shakespeare
We had booked to stay at the Shakespeare but turned up to find no rooms available and we were sent here instead! Having got over the annoyance, we had a good time - very friendly staff, nice spa, beautiful grounds and complementary champagne and taxis to make up for the problem at the shakespeare (from whom we got a future free night's stay). I think we were in one of the larger rooms in the new wing of the main house - great views and we got back too late for the inevitable wedding disco to bother us. Room was a bit faded but not so much... more
