Charming hotel with excellent service
I chose this hotel based on what I had read on Tripadviser. Overall I was pleased with the choice. The service is certainly excellent - the staff are very pleasant and I found nothing was too much trouble for them. The decor of the ground floor of the hotel is better than the bedrooms ( particularly the bathroom ) and the dining room is great. I was surprised to find that when I reported that the shower had been a bit weak and pathetic in terms of the strength of the spray, that the Receptionist was not in the least bit interested in... more
Really lovely.
We didn't stay over but enjoyed sunday lunch here. The tree lined drive leads to a nicely presented house with lovely hanging baskets and a lawn area with seating and ashtrays for the smokers. The reception lounge area are traditionally decorated and create an atmosphere that is welcoming and comfortable. The staff and service was excellent throughout. The food was delicious and excellent value with 3 courses and coffee for £20.95. We had brie and cranberry tarts followed by roast beef and roast lamb with traditional... more
Loved the bear
Me and my partner stayed at the Egerton in november 2007 as we were attending works xmas party at the last drop villiage. As we arrived we was greeted very pleasently by the receptionist, first impressions of the hotel were extremley good. We went to our room, to find this even better. we had a flat screen TV, with freeview, coffee and tea making facilities, the usual complimentary toiltries, a bundle of fluffy towels which had been warmed on the heated towel rail and to top it off a Lovely Teddy Bear on the bed to greet you as... more
Lovely romantic setting
Stayed here as my friend was getting married on the Friday Spent the full day here, the afternoon in the amazing gardens and then the evening in the barn at the back of the hotel. Room, as basic, but clean and all i needed. Breakfast was as expected, you could request anything and they were more than happy to help. All in all - a lovely night!!!
Tired surroundings in need of upgrade
We stayed here on the night of our Christmas wedding in 2003 to finish off a beautiful day. Unfortunately, the stay was very disappointing. We arrived late following our reception to find only the night porter on duty. Nobody to show us the way or take our bags to the room. We had booked the honeymoon suite and if this was it then I wouldn't want to stay in a standard room. We ordered a sandwich from the bar menu which was very overpriced and bland. Bathroom needed update, although I appreciate the age of the hotel that is no excuse to lack... more
Unclean!
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend to explore the Countryside of Bolton, Rochdale, Wigan, Bury & Oldham. The hotel boasts 32 luxury rooms. Luxury they aint! This hotel needs a complete refurb, the rooms are small & Smelly. We were out in one room that was like a cupboard, I then went to the bathroom, it had been cleaned but not very well, there were short and culrlies in the bath, hard toothpaste in the sink and dare I say skid marks in the toilet. I asked to be moved and was immediately but with no aploggy from the staff.<br... more
Fantastic romantic wedding venue
I got married here last year and the Hotel really excelled themselves with personal service they provided including from the hotel owner and managment team. The facilities and rooms were perfect for a small or larger wedding like our own. The food was spectacular, well presented and nothing was too much trouble. All our guests commented how lovely the day was. The bedrooms were all individually decorated and luxurious. We are going back to stay for our Anniversary this year.
Excellent wedding, Small rooms!
I stayed here for my friends wedding last year! The food and service for the wedding were excellent, although i can't say the same for the rooms and reservation/check-in staff.
unfriendly service!
We attended a family wedding. The service was poor and unfriendly. The function rooms were small and cluttered. Not the ideal wedding location.
Beautiful setting
My friends and I had a lovely weekend break at this hotel. The staff were friendly and very helpful. It has a nice country house atmosphere and we enjoyed our stay enormously. We needed a taxi to get us into Bolton town centre, although there is a good bus service. Despite being a little way out of town its such a lovely place in a nice location so we would certainly stay there again.
