My partner and I have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Gran Canaria Hotel. We found the hotel excellent. The hotel was spotless. There was a good choice of food in the restaurant. The evening entertainment was brilliant. There was a different show on every... more

The AC Gran Canaria is perfect for business travellers as all the necessary amenities are provided. However, we were visiting Gran Canaria as holiday makers and were disappointed that the people at Expedia did not mention to us that the hotel may be unsuitable as they knew... more

Modern hotel in a great location
The hotel is well located, minutes from the beach, over the road from a shopping centre with food court and in the north of las palmas, near plenty of bus routes. All rooms have a balcony and the rooms are very clean, modern in style and comfortable (good quality furnishings). The only oddity was the way the water from the shower leaked over the bathroom floor - solved however by using one of the main towels on the floor pressed up against the outside corner of the bath! The rooms was cleaned to perfection every day (including replacing said towel!). You have control over your own air con - including turning it off if not required. The free mini bar is restocked each day with water, fanta, coca cola, and beer and the fridge is large enough to add a few of your own items if desired. The hotel also has mini safes through reception which are also free of charge. Reception is friendly with enough English to communicate if you don't speak Spanish (we don't). With so many other eateries in the area, we did not try the hotel restaurant but it looked like it had a great view, as does the pool area. Most guests at the hotel are Spanish business people. The hotel is not geared up to tourist requests like booking island tours - and indeed the whole of Las Palmas tends to be a Spanish holiday destination rather than an English one (but hey that's why we loved it). However, we booked a great one-day island tour through an agent in the South of the Island (worth seeing but 3 hours is ample to absorb the concrete structure, sand dunes, and burnt brits although the promenade around the light house at the point is pleasant. The agency was Viajes Islas Canarias tours and their email is [--] or local phone number [--]. They certainly spoke German, English and Spanish. Back in Las Palmas, we particularly enjoyed eating at the Mexican restaurant called Viva Zapata at la naval 4 (walk north along beach promenade and it's right at the NH hotel on the front and almost immediately on your right. There is plenty to do in the city, easy access to other towns on local buses and even a good science museum just round the corner from the AC.
Nice hotel-bad attitude
We went to Gran Canaria for our honeymoon. The hotel is not quite suitable for tourists. It is really nice with big rooms, clean and modern and A FREE MINIBAR, but it accomodates people who travel for business rather than tourists. We stayed there for a week and we were really pleased and excited with this hotel, as we chose to book it by reading the reviews in tripadvisor. The last day our flight was leaving really late at night, so we asked for a late check out. First they said it was ok and that even if this was impossible they will arrange a room for us in order to change etc. Unfortunately, when the day arrived not only they refuse to give us a room but they made us to change in the gym's toilets as they could not do anything else.We were really tired and angry with their attitude as they did not seem to care at all, despite the fact that we stayed in this hotel for one week!We left the hotel with bad memories as we did not expect they would have treat us in this way.
An excellent choice
We have just returned from eight days at the AC las Palmas. The hotel staff were extremely friendly with no request being too much trouble. The rooms were large, clean and serviced every day. Free minibar in the room. The swimming pool on the 25th floor afforded 360 degree views to die for. The hotel is ideally located between the port area and the beach on the west side of the peninsular. close to numerous bars, restaurants and shops. All in all, a great choice and if I am ever back in GC, then I will definitely stay there again. PS For breakfast and drinks in the evening go to Santa Catalina Park and visit the numerous bars. Lolitas was good but might not be everyones cup of tea.
much value for little price
Las Palmas is a city that needs to be discovered. It's not as touristic as the south of Gran Canaria and that makes AC hotel Las Palmas a place for business travellers from especially Spain but also leisure travelers. So the atmosphere of this hotel is less "touristic" and more "original", which is very nice. Design of hotel, rooms and restaurant is modern, clear and clean, so it's an atmosphere to feel comfortable in. The only disadvantage was that I could not order from the roomservice as noone was able to speak English. The breakfast buffet is good and from the restaurant you have a wonderful view on the haven and the city. Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor, you will enjoy the wonderful view!
Great Business Class Hotel
This is an upscale "Business Class" hotel. White glove service and immaculate rooms make this a very comfortable hotel. It has a relaxing rooftop pool/Bar and is right on the beach. It is also in the biggest Canary Island city, with great shopping, restaurants and boating in the beautiful nearby marina. What a great island to explore. Casinos, mountain villages, volcano, black lava beaches, etc. Go now before it falls into the Ocean!!
a pleasant hotel
i booked into this hotel after spending one night of a scheduled fortnight at the hotel astoria in las palmas-see my review. in total i spent 11 nights at the ac and found it a perfect base being close to the beach, central for restaurants and cafes, and also easy to see, and at 25 stories high it is difficult to miss. the room was clean and had a pleasant view, albeit of the container port and naval base, but hey it was genuinely pleasant and interesting. the only downside to my stay was that breakfast was not included, and at 12 euros was in my view pretty steep, saying that i would thoroughly recommend "olivers cafe" in the side street next to the hotel, where they serve wonderful freshly squeezed orange juice and the most delicious tortilla i have ever tasted. i would be happy to recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
Excellent
Very nice hotel with a helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Close eough to beach and shopping. Great rooms, only draw back was the shower door was a half door. I could not figure how to take a shower without soaking the bathroom floor. Pool on roof - Outstanding!! nice view Internet was a bit pricey- 12 euro/day
great place
very design. Functional rooms, most with view. Free soft drinks and water on every floor. Great restaurant on the 23rd floor, lovely pool, though small (come on, stop complaining about everything!) on the 25th floor. An inexpensive business lunch for 15, 50 Euros on the 24th floor from 1:30 to 4, buffet style, with choice of main dish. Only 7 minutes walk to the beach.
Good Hotel
We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. We found the staff really helpful and friendly - The rooms were comfortable, clean and tidy. We had a magnificent view of the port. The location of the hotel was excellent, about a 7 min stroll to the lovely Las Canteras promenade - Also 2 minutes from Santa Catalina Park - which is where the open top tourist bus starts from. The breakfast buffet was fresh and had plenty choice -We didnt try the restaurant in the evening but it looked good. If youve had a late night they service complimentary coffee until about 5 am. I would not hesitate to use this hotel again
Smart place
We had not pre-booked and had a look at the rooms here, which are very modern and smart and large. The staff are very efficient. There is a nice restaurant on the top floor which has great views of Las Palmas. Its not on the beach and is about a 7 minute walk from it. Get a view of the front marina and port rather than the back which will be just streets.
