Hospitable, Friendly and Caring
I visited this hotel with a colleague on the 19th November - the night of severe flooding in Cockermouth. I received a friendly welcome from John and Kay despite the fact that the water was about to breach the sand bags placed at the front doors - the storm was of obvious concern but came second to guest's welfare I was guided to my room by Kay who took the trouble to take me right to the door and explain how to use the door lock. The room was in a clean condition, larger than most hotel rooms I have experienced and well... more
Warm and friendly hotel with the nicest most helpful staff
The hotel was perfectly placed to enjoy the wide range of inns and restaurants in this beautiful cumbrian town. The staff were warm and friendly and put themselves out to assist with those critical business timings. The rooms were quite novel, each with its own distinctive flavour. Over the course of a year of returning I tried most, all of which were perfect for me. On one occasion when the town was really busy the owners even made room in a staff quarter for me. Saved me a tremendous amount of travelling. Wide variety of price and menu for... more
A hotel from sometime else
Cockermouth is itself is a little timewarp back 40 years; and the Allerdale court hotel accurately represents this. From the moment I walked into the hotel I felt out of time. Its small family run hotel that is presumably targeted at the tourist searching for olde englande. The hotel by any modern business hotel standard is a disaster and best avoided. My party of 4 had rooms with no lights; beds/ tables that weren't horizontal; someone hoovering in the room above them in the night, tv remotes with no batteries and no hot water in the... more
A Snoring Experience!!
Spent one night in a Budget Single room (room 14) at the Allerdale Court in mid October. The £50 complete with breakfast seemed like a better deal than a travelodge. Room was bigger than expected with a very cosy double bed. Appeared clean if a little tired in decor, although I did discover an empty roasted peanuts wrapper at the side on the bed when I went to switch on the bedside light. Not sure how it could have been missed by the cleaners as it was not actually under the bed!! Dinner at the hotels Oscars restaurant included a... more
Surprising Good and deserves a chance!!!
We have just returned from 3 nights at the Allerdale Court Hotel in Cockermouth. The hotel was very nice and the food was excellent we stayed in a superior room on a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast basis. We will definitely return to this hotel in the future. We found the staff and management to be very friendly. The food was very good the portions are a bit big and we couldn't eat all 3 courses which were included in our rate. When we first arrived we were a bit unsure about the hotel and asked to see the room before we even took a... more
Food is great............
The food is absolutely lovely at this hotel, but that is about the best thing we can say really, except Carlos, the waiter, he was fab!!! It is a very olde worlde hotel, with lots of character, but for me, that meant the cleanliness was therefore not brilliant. We were allocated a standard double but did ask for a larger room due to the fact we had a 2½ yr old and needed to fit in a travel cot. That became impossible without moving the bed and furniture out of the room. The 3 night stay then became cramped to say the least. When... more
drip drip drip....
We booked to stay in a superior room at the allerdale court hotel. When we arrived the receptionist was very friendly and showed us to our room. The room was large and comfortable, however we noticed that there was a damp patch and water dripping from the ceiling down the oak beam! we placed a bin to catch the drips and went to let the manager know the problem. He took our key to go and investigate whilst we sat down to dinner. When he returned he informed us that he had no idea where the water was coming from!! That was it!!!! No offer of... more
pleasant holiday
This was a holiday for a week booked through a hotel discount scheme. The small hotel is family owned, clean, old world, and pleasant. Our room was very comfortable with a good sized bathroom and there were two small restaurants with good quality food. There is no hotel car park, which is a slight drawback, but it didn't cause major problems. When we were there most of the guests were long term whilst they worked in the area on various projects, but that didn't diminish from the suitability for a holiday. Cockermouth is perhaps a... more
Olde Worlde Charm
Just wanted to say what an excellent place to stay the Allerdale Court Hotel is! Warm, clean, friendly, hospitable, cosy, delicious food, excellent service and great value for money. The hotel has an olde worlde charm - cosy surroundings, oak beams and panels and well furnished comfortable bedrooms. Beautifully presented rooms with every comfort available - huge bathroom. We could recommend the Allerdale Court to anyone and hope to return ourselves one day. Excellent central location, fantastic food and wonderful... more
