Lovely hotel away from it all
from ceflondon
Having spent four nights at the Jolly Beach Hotel and one awful night at the airport hotel following a cancelled flight I booked myself into the Trade Winds for a night as a treat. It was such a contrast to the other two, so beautiful, friendly and attentive staff, quiet, lovely spacious rooms and a great deck to catch the sun. Highly recommended - great restaurant too!
What a View!
from dimbey
My husband and I stayed at Trade Winds from 23 May til 8th June 2007. We had a great time there. and What a view from the balcony! We booked the trip direct as is was cheaper. We sorted our own flights out which made it cheaper than going through holiday companies! Because we have friends who live in Antigua and so we have been to the Island before we wanted the freedom to pick and choose, Trade Winds helped us tailer our meal plans accordingly. It appears to be cheaper to book evening meals before you go, there is a $50 ECD...

Gladly trade Tradewinds
from CaribEvan
Tradewinds Hotel in Antigua is nice enough at first. My room was large and had a view of the sea from the balcony. It was clean and well maintained. Pool and deck are very nice as well. The problem is noise. Presenlty they are building a new sun deck and the construction noise went on during the day and they worked some nights as well. Moreover I asked the front desk each of my five days to fix the incessant rattling of my air conditioner and nothing was done. In additon the compressors for several of the uits seem ot be right...

Wonderful Hotel and Awesome Staff
from Dawn&ErnieKing
This hotel and staff were excellent! We had a wonderful time and will definitely visit again. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very friendly and fun. The only staff we found a little unfriendly were the girls at the front desk. They really need to smile more!
No more than Ok
from Blundellian
I wanted to like the Tradewinds (where we stayed for a week), but can give it no more than an OK rating. It has a nice situation on a hill with good views, and the grounds are lush with tropical vegetation. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel was quiet - most of the other people staying there were British Airways air crew. That's the good news. The bad news: our room was shabby, with furniture that could have used a lick of paint, and a toilet that only worked sporadically - we had to fill the cistern by hand...

Good value and great restaurant.
from tlee3379
Stayed at Trade Winds as a one night stopover on way to a Windjammer cruise. Room was large and clean with a gorgeous view of sunset over the ocean. Drinks on the patio were generous. Warning! 2 planters punches will set you free. Dinner also on the patio under a full moon and breakfast the next morning were romantic as well as delicious. Staff was courteous and helpful. Would recommend, however, you should be warned that this is not a beachfront property although the beach is in walking distance and a shuttle is provided.
Great Airport Hotel
from Maniv
Me and my friend stayed at the Trade winds Hotel on the 12th May just for 1 night as we had been St Lucia for a week and got a flight back from Antigua and decided to stay in Antigua just for the night. We got a Junior Suite and it was a lovely room really spacious and we had a lovley view. The staff i have to say arent the best they are very rude and not helpfull and friendly which was quiet dissapointing but we didnt really care as we were on there for a night. The food there is great we got room service in the evening and once we had...

Great Island! Great Hotel!
from A TripAdvisor Member
Just got back after spending two wonderfull weeks in fantastic Antigua! We wasn't really sure what to expect from the hotel as the reviews were limited and rather old. This hotel has 55 rooms of which 45 are solely booked for British Airways for stop over cabin crew per annum. This is not a problem, if anything it gives you a bit more exclusivity as BA change crews every other day! If possible try and request either one of the rooms 50 to 55 as these have been recently refurbished to a fantastic standard well in excess of...

In the clouds not on the beach
from HP14
Tradewinds is unusual in that it’s not on the beach but if you’re not on a beach holiday that’s not a problem. In compensation, the hill top setting gives sublime views and the huge rooms have vast terraces, looking down over lush greenery to the brilliant blue and white of Dickenson Bay. The walk down to the beach is not arduous, nor is the walk back (and there is a shuttle bus). Food is reasonable and the outdoor terrace is lovely - though like too many hotels in the Caribbean, fruit juice is fresh from the carton, the coffee...
