Days Inn Gretna Green M74

Hotel was clean, bed good. Agree about food at service station-worst ive ever had. Stay here, but eat eslewhere.

We stayed in a executive room which was suppose to have a superior kingsize bed and a welcome pack. The bed was a standard size king and not very comfortable the welcome pack was a twix and a small bottle of water. Not worth the upgrade. The room was clean and quiet. We had to ask for extra towels as we were only given for 1 person and the shower was difficult to regulate and so we had to have a luke warm shower.

We stayed here for one night on our way to Scotland. The double room was £59.95 and was perfectly clean. The bed was very comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was clean and had a good shower, although complementary toiletries would have been nice - multi-purpose soap/shampoo/shower gel is not very nice, and it was in a horrible dispenser. The staff were unwilling to suggest anywhere better to eat nearby than the service station, which as with all service stations, offers very poor value for money.

I have found the Days Inn to be a convenient place to stop over night when travelling from my home in Scotland to English destinations. It is clean and relatively cheap (£50 pn for two of us) - particularly if you book thro the the daysinn.co.uk website. We eat at one or other of the hotels in the Gretna area because this hotel is actually at the northbound motorway services and has no restaurant of its own so the usual motorway prices prevail if you eat here! we have just returned from our friends wedding at gretna green what a great time. we chose the days inn because of its location and were not dissapointed. the ceremony was at anvil hall which was 5 minutes away and the wedding reception was about 10 mins in a taxi at a place called longtown.it cost us £12 for an eight seater mini bus, just ask reception for elaines taxis. the staff were very friendly and the rooms were really clean and spacious,we had a king size bed and a double sofa bed just for the two of us. unlike a lot of hotels... more

We stayed here on the Thursday before the Easter bank holiday as a "pit stop" before carrying on up to the Scottish Highlands and were really pleased with what we found! The hotel itself is easy to find (well sign posted from the motorway) and the reception desk is manned 24 hours. We arrived at about 2am (having driven from London after work through rush hour) and were greeted by a very freindly receptionist who checked us in quickly and easily with no fuss (which was great as we were quite tired!). This hotel had a very clean room, with a very comfortable bed, after a long drive. I arrived at 7pm, it was a cold evening and I opened the door the heating in the room was already on which made such a drifference. I found the hotel to be very clean, tea and coffee in the room which is more than adiquate. The only comment I have to make is the desk chair is very uncomfortable when sitting trying to work. The staff in the hotel are excellent.

We stayed in this hotel for one night. I was visiting Gretna for a meeting and wanted a cheap nights stay. I have to say whilst this hotel was cheap the standard was basic and the hotel had a strange smell which smelt like we were in a caravan. The bathroom was very dated. This is a cheap well located hotel but there are much better quality hotels for just a few pounds more.

Overall good value for money so served as a good base for some of us who were visiting Gretna Green for my sisters wedding. The Days Inn used to be called the welcome lodge so expect basic "travelodge" type room - Clean, comfortable, big bed, en-suite, TV, kettle, hairdryer. we had basic room with no meals deal The cheepest hotel in Gretna Green that we found - booking direct with Days Inn site was easiest & the best value. Stayed at the Days Inn Gretna Green for 1 night in July whilst looking for a wedding venue in Gretna Green. The hotel is in the welcome break services area off the A74 (M74) and used to be called Welcome Break Gretna Green. Location is a few minutes drive away from Gretna Green so it's ideal if you're attending a wedding there. It's actually set back from the services and is surrounded by trees so there's very little noise from the surrounding area.
