Kastro Hotel

Kastro hotel is situated in the heart of Heraclion. Within a two minute walk you can reach the numerous cafes night clubs-bars and Shopping areas. Check in was extremely fast taking into account that we hadn't booked our rooms in advance. It took us (party of four couples) less than five minutes to get into our rooms! A surprisingly lovely stay in a surprisingly nice city! It appears most guests are here on a stopover from the nearby ferry, but we think this is a good place in and of itself. Irini and the others at the front desk are very helpful, the location is great (near the port, not far from Knossus and the airport and a short walk to the hopping Red Lion Square), and the facilities are clean and nice.

Both my husband and I stayed in this hotel in mid May. The location is great. The amenities were modern. The rooms and shower were clean and updated. The service was okay. The included breakfast was very good. I would return.

Our stay at the Kastro Hotel was unexpected, but wonderful and restful. The management is most accomodating and helpful. After experiencing showers with little or no pressure, we felt like we were royalty with an amazing shower head and pressure! The hotel is situated within a block from Avgoustou (one main street) in Heraklion. The continental breakfast was great with Greek fare and other food to tempt your hunger. Overall, a great stay in a great hotel!

Kastro hotel has a great location and is within walking distance to most of the sightseeing attractions (e.g. venetian fortress, heraklion archaelogical museum), shops and restaurants. Rooms were clean and spacious. I had no problems with the size of the beds and the bathrooms were pretty good. Staff spoke decent english and were polite and helpful. Breakfast provided had a decent spread. Overall, good value for money

We looked at the rooms at this hotel, and couldn't even stay one night. The rooms had the regulare amenities, AC, TV, etc, and the rooms were spacious--only because the beds were soooo small. Note, my wife and I have travelled all over the world, so these beds are small (really, they must be kid size mattresses), even by Europeon standards. The double bed is a joke, it can barely hold 2 children let alone 2 adults, and when you try to shift to two single beds, forget it, these are kid size twins, if you have over 5'9", forget about fitting... more

the hotel looked nice in the pictures and lived up to our expectations on arrival. it was a perfect place for our girls holiday as it was located in a beautiful island, surrounded by amazing clear water and excellent beaches. the nightlife was not a long walk away which was useful for us to travel as we d not have to spend our money on cabs. the night is upbeat whilst the days were relaxing, although there were plenty of opportunities for watersports and sight seeing. overall it was a very enjoyable holiday for me n my friends. it was... more

We stayed there for 2 nights in 2 different rooms - they are spacious and clean. The a/c is strong which I like very much. Staff is friendly and helpful. It is close to the main bus station and ferry port and the main square. We paid only 70Euro a night, which was quite a good deal.

The rooms were just renovated and were great. The hotel is located on a quieter street but very close to the city's main square. The rooftop patio had great views over the city. The breakfast was very good and the staff was helpful with tourist information. Great value!

As noted in other reviews, we ferried to Crete, staying overnite at the charming and quiet Hotel Kastro as part of an island hopping trip from athens to naxos, santorini, and crete.
