The Gables Hotel

I was at a wedding the other week down in gretna green. The bride and groom booked the gabels for the reception. At the last minute the bar staff told us that there was another wedding on and that it had been double booked! We did get offered the a la carte menu in the local bar! but who want to eat there wedding dinner in a bar full of strangers? very disapointing! Wouldnt go back.

Just got back from celebrating our 10th anniversary at The Gables. We stayed there when we got married. It's been expanded since then, and there are plans to expand it some more. Our 'Bridal' room was good. The bedroom was very nice, comfortable and clean, though not huge. The bathroom was great. Plenty of room in there! Nice big jacuzzi bath, and a good powerful shower. We stayed here from 26th May - 28th May and had a fabulous time. Our wedding was at the Mill Forge and we had our reception at the Gables. The rooms where lovely myself and my now husband stayed in a bridal suite with four poster bed, bottle of champagne, strawberries and chocolates on arrival (nice touch). just got married at the anvil hall and held our reception for 27 guests at the gables. we had an excellent day, all the staff were brilliant and everything went so smoothly. the food at our reception was excellent, all the staff were so organised and gave 100% service. the only negative point we found was that the bridal suite was very small and when you have you hairdresser and beautician in there as well as you and your bridesmaids there really isnt any room at all. we would highly recommend the gables to any couple wishing to get married... more

We got married at Gretna Hall and had our reception at the Gables. What a great time!!!. Hotel was very clean, rooms although not big, were adequate. The staff were helpful and attentive. Stayed at this hotel as a treat...not keen! Room was ok, but small, had a "bridal Suite" four-poster etc...honeyed pine furniture every where, not grand ,but ok. bathroom had corner bath, once again ok..no posh smellies like you would expect, very cheap bottle of asti included in price £130. basket of fruit, apple, grapes,plum and an orange, box of 4 chocs..yes, that right..2 each! Got married in Gretna in July 2003 - Had our wedding reception at The Gables and stayed three nights to make a weekend of it. Booked a bridal suite which was wonderfully clean and comfortable (great jacuzzi!) and the food and service were faultless. The wedding reception ran very smoothly and all the guests also commented on the quality of the hotel - how cosy it was and how friendly the staff were. It was good value for money and also had nice gardens where you could have photos taken. Overall had a great stay and a wonderful wedding!

We got married in Gretna last August and had our reception at The Gables. It was lovely. The food and service were faultless. The Gables also has lovely gardens in which we had some of our official photos taken. The staff cannot do enough for you and the bridal suite was really lovely. would totally recommend it.

If anyone is thinking of getting married in Gretna Green DO IT!! I got married at the Mill Forge over the weekend and had the most fantastic day! I booked a wedding co-ordinator who orgainised a piper, car and photographs and it was so worth it as it took the hassle away. On the day the wedding co-ordinator, minsiter and photographer were all there waiting for me and were brilliant. I got married in November 2003 at Gretna. We had our reception at the Gables. It was fantastic. The service and staff were all excellent. The meal we had were gorgeous. I couldnt of asked for anything better. we are just coming up to our first wedding anniversary and are looking at going back to the Gables for the weekend to re live our wonderful day. Would recommend to anyone.
