Pensao Residencial Portuense

Great place to stay. We were a family with three small children travelling in Lisbon and we were really concerned how this would work out. The friendly staff and the convenient location made this trip a real success. You can use the kitchen all hours except breakfast time, which makes life with small children so much easier. We arrived early, but they fixed our room in five minutes. They speak english very well and gladly help you out when you need transportation information etc.

Going by the many recommendations on Trip Advisor, I booked four nights over Semana Santa (Easter) at the Pensao Portuense. It was everything the previous reviewers had promised - spotlessly clean; polite, friendly, helpful and efficient staff; and a great location, close to the action but in a quiet street. We stayed in a triple which had an extra side room with a table and chairs, giving us plenty of space (there were only two of us!). We had a wonderful stay here and the staff could not have been friendlier or better. They helped us in so many ways. They are fastidious email readers and were able to accomodate us despite a one-day trip delay. The room was great with a wonderful view of the neighborhood. We especially liked the bathroom. The location is incredibly convenient as well. Our only complaints were the lack of lobby couches, smoking in other rooms and in the downstairs area (everybody smokes indoors in Portugal), and the elevator beeping every time the door... more

Poor value. Claustrofobic. Very poor breakfast. Needs renovation: it was raining inside.

I have just spent two nights in a single room on the fifth floor, which had a fantastic view. This pension is perfectly located in the heritage district of Lisbon very close to a large place named "Restauradores". The house represents the traditional Portuguese architecture in Lisbon. There are wooden floors in the rooms, which offer all the amenties a hotel room should be equipped with. My friend and I stayed at this pensao for 4 nights and found it to be of excellent value (only 45 euros/nt for a twin). Our rooms were clean and suprisingly spacious. We had all the comforts of home: hot water, heater, television, internet access, etc. In addition, the staff was extremely helpful. They answered all our questions (from where to eat good Portuguese food to where to party on New Year's Eve) with patience and honesty. Excellent location and accomodating and friendly staff are just a few of the reasons that I highly recommend this place to stay. The room was exactly like pictured and was quite comfortable and clean. We were traveling with 2 children (5 years old and 17 months old) and the staff made extra effort to make sure that we were comfortable and all set. We walked to the Marquis de Pombal, praca de comercial, rossio, and many restaurants and cafes.

Very cozy and clean hotel. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Had a wonderful stay and will continue to always stay here on vacation.

We spent 9 nights on the 5th floor with a nice view from both the bedroom and the bathroom! The bed was somewhat short and the room was small but the price is great for this convenient location (3 min to the next subway station, 5 min to the Rossio, etc.). The last Hard Rock Cafe to be opened on the Continent (Summer 2003) will be around the corner!

This is a fabulous little budget place, right in the heart of the city, near Restauradores and Rossio. It's a fabulous area to walk in, and it felt very safe.We paid about US$40 for a one-bedroom, in which we had a separate sitting room and a private bathroom with great shower. The beds were so comfortable. The helpful family that runs the place is so pleasant and accomodating.
