Villa Brunella

We stayed here for 3 nights in early October and had a lovely time. The room was quite beautiful with a great view. Apart from the breakfast which was unremarkable but pleasant, everything else was first class. The service was wonderful and the staff attentive. We enjoyed two meals in the great restaurant where they paid extra-special attention. We enjoyed our time here and would return.

Although it has oversized rooms and beautiful views, overall we were disappointed with Villa Brunella. Our room was infested with spiders and mosquitos. The customer service was lack luster and they weren't accommodating. The pool is tiny and dirty, and the continental breakfast was disgusting...all they served was old, hard bread with jam. Juice was an extra $5 per glass. We will stay elsewhere next time we go to Capri, but luckily we will still be able to enjoy the views from from the public walkway or the open "park" at the end of... more

We stayed here for 3 nights (August 4-August 7). It was our pre-ceremony honeymoon. What a wonderful hotel!! We were only supposed to stay here for two nights, but it was so beautiful, that we extended our stay at the hotel. The hotel is located about 10-15 minutes from the main Piazzetta down Via Tragara, which is probably the most beautiful walkway on Capri. There were beautiful and fragrant flowers everywhere. The atmosphere feels more like home than that of staying in a hotel. The terrace views are nothing short of stunning. The hotel personnel give first class service starting with the owner himself, Vincenzo. The cobblestone path to the Town Square takes you along one of the most beautiful walkways in the world. Although our room was a sixth-floor walk-down, it was truly beautiful, with a large comfortable bedroom area, a gigantic bathroom with a jacuzzi and shower (gargantuan by european standards), and a flower-filled terrace nearly the size of our Brooklyn apartment, with a view over looking the Marina Piccola. We even had our own personal lemon-tree! The pool was perfect for an afternoon swim and also offered breath-taking views of the island. We visited Villa Brunella in September of 2002 for the first time, only for lunch. We were on the Radisson Seven Seas, Mariner, and docked in Sorrento. I had read a wonderful article on the restaurant in one of the top food magazines & 4 of us took the hydrofoil to Capri in search of Terrazza Brunella. My wife and I enjoyed the first leg of our honeymoon at Villa Brunella in Capri. Instead of writing this review in paragraph format, I'm going to list the strengths and improvement sections... hope this helps you. The Villa Brunella was ideal in every way!! The location was perfect- down a lovely pedestrian street about 10 minute walk from town center- far enough away from the crowds, yet close enough to enjoy the restaurants at night. Our room was gorgeously decorated and huge! It even had a walk-in closet. The restaurant was excellent- very romantic and delicious food (eggplant parmagiana to die for). Villa Brunella is a memorable hotel. Small, friendly, and unpretentious. It feels very uncommercial, yet has all the amenities needed for a perfect stay. They knew we were arriving quite late and kept the kitchen open for us. After checking in, they delivered dinner on our terrace...we knew at this point we were going to like this place. If you want a room with a view, this is the place for you! We had a lovely corner room with floor to ceiling windows on two sides and a wonderful balcony with a view over the sea to the other side of the island. It was very tempting to spend our whole vacation simply enjoying the view from our room. Aside from the view, there is much to love about this hotel - the owner and staff are friendly and helpful and the food is great.
