Du Lac et Du Parc Hotel

This might have been a charming and relaxing resort decades ago. Now it is unwelcoming, ungracious and overpriced. It is definitely not structured with relaxation and indulgence in mind. The sauna and steam rooms are only open from 4 to 8. There are no massages or treatments available from 1 to 4, and most of the appointment slots have been booked up weeks or months in advance. My wife and I stayed 6 nights in a top (6th) floor room overlooking the park and lake. The hotel is in a truely beautiful setting, in its own park with a large swimming pool, several large ponds full of enormous trout (I think), and ducks and cootes waddling around, surrounded on two sides by the gorge in which the northern end of ther lake lies, and looking down the 50 miles of lake. Had 2 days of rain when we arrived.Found the reception staff to be unhelpful.We asked for umbrellas to go to the lakeside restaurant and were told they had none.We then requsted a buggy to take us there and were told they may be able to get one in 10 minutes.Needless to say we went elsewhere for lunch. My brother and I and our spouses stayed at the Hotel du lac du park May 12 for 11 days with our 85 year old mother. Using a wheelchair was not a problem in this area as it is flat and walks around the lake or along trhe road into the centre were not a problem. the hotel itself is immaculate and set in beautiful gardens which reach right down to the lake. My family and I stayed here in eary fall and basically agree with the most recent reviews. We stayed in one of their "Classic West" bungalows, which are located about a five-minute walk from the main building and seem to be their budget accomodations. They are quite spartan in their furnishings with Ikea-type furniture (see picture). It was far from luxury but all the necessities were there. I have stayed at this hotel many times. It is a wonderful hotel with good food and hospitality. The gardens around the pool are everything one could wish for, with ample seating among the trees in the heat of the day. There is an excellent cafe in the grounds for al fresco meals. A very good sign is that the hotel staff do not appear to change from year to year, and when visiting you can see familiar faces in the dining room. Just got back from a week staying in Hotel du lac et du parc in Riva Del Garda. Me and my boyfriend (both early 30's) had never been to the Italian Lakes before, chose to go really for the watersports and we weren't disapointed. The hotel is really well located, right on the lake front, 10 minute stroll down the lake path into the centre of Riva and maybe a 20 minute walk the other way to Torobole. For the third year my mum and myself have stayed at this hotel which shows how much we enjoy it. The rooms are large with balconies overlooking the lake and the mountains and absolutely spotless, the food just melts in your mouth and all the staff are so friendly. As soon as we arrived the porter greeted us like old friend and when we went home and were waiting for the tour company coach to take us back to the airport, he waited with us and took our cases and hand luggage down to the coach and even loaded our cases on board for us!!<br... more

We stayed here over the 3 day Easter weekend. The weather didn't cooperate for 2 of the three days, so we didn't get to see all of the beauty of the lake, but it met our main objective: relaxation! We also came with our dog, and enjoyed the 'passigata' along the lake and through the gardens.
