Still Perfect!
We visit 'The Tors' as often as possible, several times in the past year, and are always delighted by the breath-taking views and the well presented rooms. The staff is extremely kind AND efficient! - a rare combination! One is never hurried yet is never kept waiting. The food is BEYOND delicious! You MUST stay for dinner! I cannot WAIT to retiurn!
The children and our dog loved it
This is the best dog friendly hotel I have ever stayed in, they are allowed everywhere except for the restaurant and the charge is minimal. There are many walks and beauty spots on the doorstep which the dogs loved but slept for the rest of the day! The pool is outdoors but is heated and it was fantastic. The children spent most of there time in the water whilst I lay on the loungers admiring the view! Overall this hotel has something for everybody and we would definately stay again.
The most wonderful place I have ever stayed
Although having arrived late due to being held up at work, we were made most welcome and they had even made a supper tray for us so that we did not go hungry. The staff at this hotel are professional yet friendly and it really felt like we were old friends. I cannot fault the food it was delicious, I can only imagine that the last trip advisor must have stayed elsewhere? I would highly recommend this hotel, with its stunning views and relaxed atmosphere it really is a must.
Don't go there
I have since childhood wanted to stop at the Tors. god did i make a mistake! lovely views but it ends there food was dire and I mean dire! pool is little more than a leaf filled pond and the loungers were filthy. the decor as in the other review old folks home.i wrote and complained in May but as yet December have yet to receive a reply. Save yourself some money and heartache and go somewhere else
GREAT VIEW
We have just returned from a one night stay at this hotel. We asked that the room be made ready as soon as possible, and this was done with a minimum of fuss, and the room was made ready by 1.00pm not 3.00 pm as was normally the case. We stayed in the "Braunton Sweet" which was splendid with stunning views over the harbour. The food in the restaurant was first class as were the staff and the service we received. Although ours was a very brief stay and we did stay in the "best" room we could not fault the hotel in anyway and we are sure to... more
It's terrible!
I can whole heartedly agree with your friend in Doncaster about this truely hideous hotel. I am only disappointed that I did not find his review before I had my much anticipated weekend away ruined! Decorated in the style of a somewhat delapidated old folks home meets the customer service ethos of Faulty Towers this is not the place for a romantic getaway. Disappointment was round every corner and whilst, yes the views are spectacular, this does little to compensate for the numerous areas where the hotel / carehome is sadly so... more
A beautifully situated amazing hotel
I had the pleasure of staying at The Tors hotel, Lymouth in early April and was lucky enough to have fantastic weather at the same time. On arrival at the hotel you are overwhelmed by its location set on the side of the valley, the views are fantastic. I was welcomed by an efficient and friendly receptionist and shown up to my room. The room although only the lowest grade was clean, comfortable and had views over the harbour and out to sea. The evening meal was delicious, there wasnt a huge choice but the quality and thought put into... more
Worst hotel I have ever stayed in....!
I have used the trip advisor site for some time and have always found their reviews very helpful. Clearly however, the reviewers who expressed a positive opinion of this hotel stayed in a different hotel to the I one I stayed in with my fiancee last weekend. To begin with there were no car parking spaces. We managed to squeeze in next to a delapidated garage and then stumbled down a very steep muddy path to the hotel entrance. When we got in we put our cases in the room and were appaled at the decor we found. It was an absolute disgrace... more
our second home
We have been staying at the Tors since 1994 with our 3 children who are now 13, 10 and 8. This is a friendly hotel with a relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are spacious for a family of 5 and the rates for children are extremely reasonable if they share a room with the adults. The food is always fantastic and the views from the restaurant are the "best in the world"- my husband claims! Lynmouth and the surrounding countryside is beautiful at any time of year and is never too busy even in August. If your family enjoy walking,... more
Good hotel looking down on Lynmouth
We (my wife and I) planned to stay at Lynmouth for 2 nights starting 6th Sept 2004. We just drove past the hotel and turned back to enquire - it was a good choice. The lady on reception couldn't have been more helpful – she sort of apologised that they only had a ‘Countisbury room’ – which is the standard room - but showed it to us and it was wonderful and we could see the harbour and sea if we strained! The premium rooms must be grand. It was a large room (115) with a unique turret with windows, as we were on the corner. The room... more
