Carfax Hotel

Couldn't fault this hotel. Close to centre, clean and friendly. Breakfast choices/buffet fantastic. Room big and fresh looking. I'd suggest you stop looking and book here if you can, though it seems to be pretty popular as we had to change our weekend dates to fit in with their vacancies.

We just came back from a romantic weekend in Bath at this hotel, and told the receptionist we'd write a review saying how much we'd enjoyed it. So here we go Kerry! The hotel is in one of those streets that is straight out of a Jane Austen costum drama! Every thing is walkable - the baths, abbey and shops, and there is a car park at the back. Had a lovely stay at the Carfax, last November, the staff were lovely, the rooms lovely, the food lovely, the service lovely, but on departure the owner: a lady not unlikened to Anne Robinson in the Weakest Link, did not seem to share our enthusiasm, rather seemed to chastise a member of staff in front of us for failure to do some admin task; a slight blott on the landscape but perhaps a word to the wise: leave the guests to the staff and the admin in the back office!

I liked this hotel very much. They were friendly, had good winter prices (we paid £88 for a delux double), clean and really well-located. The breakfast was organic and fair trade which was a nice touch. Perfect place to crash in the best part of the city. Highly recommended.

Boy it was tough finding a good place with a car lot in Bath! This hotel has a smallish one at the back, garages and permits for the street. We did them all! The first night, the car lot was full (Friday) so we used the parking permit, second night we got a space in the car lot, third night it was so cold we hired a garage (I borrowed a friends car...don't like to see it frosted!). My wife and I, along with our 20 month old daughter stayed at the Carfax for 3 nights in early December during Bath's annual Christmas Market. As many note, the location is excellent, along a ritzy looking street within close walking distance of all the attractions and shopping Bath has to offer. We stayed in the family suite (a value at £112/night), two rooms with an inter-connecting door. Me and the other half had a one night stay here at the end of November 2005. I booked late and managed to get the last double room available, so I'm not sure how reflective my review is. However, the room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and more importantly for November warm. The decor was slightly dated but not offensively so! The only real oddity was that the sink was in the bedroom, as the shower room was too small to fit it in. A very warm welcome to a clean, beautifully kept, old Georgian style hotel. Staff courteous and helpful. Excellent choices of breakfast with vegetarian option. Quiet at night, doors locked at 1030pm. Can have key to stay out later. No smoking or license to drink suited us. If you wish an alcoholic drink there are a variety of hotels and pubs close by. The Carfax Hotel is within easy walk of all main attractions on level. It was a peaceful place to stay . I liked it very much and would recommend it. Good vibrations and peaceful atmosphere.

Best hotel I've stayed in for quite sometime. The street's 'wow' factor is high - looks like a period costume drama set! No problems parking in the car park, which was free. The bedroom (35) was big and clean, with a fridge and seperate dressing room leading to the bathroom. Very clean and new looking. Breakfast was nicely cooked and I liked the fairtrade angle. We have just returned from a much needed break in Bath; a city we love. We searched the Trip Advisor web site and felt The Carfax was the hotel for us. We were not disappointed. Everything about it lived up to expectations. It is so central, in one of the most beautiful streets in Bath. The breakfasts are first class. The menu is ethically sourced if possible.
