Langdon Court Hotel & Restaurant

We had our wedding at this venue on the 8th of April 2006. It was perfect, the hotel is absolutly beautiful, inside and out! The rooms are massive and tastefully decorated. The food and the service were outstanding, all our guests commented on how nice the food was. Some of the previous comments on here are absurd. I have never left a Wedding Reception so hungry and depressed before.I endorse the previous comments. Langdon Court should give up doing Weddings until they upgrade the facilities and learn how things should be done. Thank goodness we didn't actually stay overnight! Give this one a miss - The most important day of your lives deserves better than this.

We arrived for a friend's wedding and were astounded by the beautiful location. We sat down for the meal after 3 hours of waiting - v v hungry. Firstly my son (8 mths) had no highchair. We requested one from a member of staff who brought us one. The highchair had broken safety straps so was too dangerous to be used. My son had to sit in his pram. The food was fine although small portions and we soon ran out of veg and potatoes. The staff were not friendly and there was NO customer service. The setting is magnificent, food is good, but regretfully in all other respects the Fawlty Towers mentality is alive and well at Langdon Court Hotel. The hotel administration is chaotic and amateurish and the attitude of the majority of staff deplorable. As a result, the bride left the hotel on the morning after her wedding day in tears. If you have booked a wedding at this hotel, cancel it. If you are considering booking, look elsewhere.

I, like the previous reviewer, was distinctly underwhelmed by Langdon Court. Yes, it is in the most beautiful countryside and our room was large and clean, however during the 2.5 days we spent there it became obvious that the hotel must rely on it's business functions and weddings as it certainly didn't make any effort to attend to it's hotel guests. I am writing after our terrible experience at Langdon Court. After phoning in advance and speaking to extremely helpful and friendly staff, we provisional booked a date for our wedding party. We then got up at 6am for a 5 hour drive down to Plymouth to view the grounds to make sure it would suit our needs. At this point we meet the manager and it all went down hill very quickly. In October 2003 I married Adele. The day was fantastic! The location was perfect, the food was heaven sent, and the service was unfaltering. We were made to feel utterly at ease. Thankyou Mark and Ruth. What more can I say. If you want to get married in Plymouth, and you have a few extra pounds in your pocket, then book Langdon court.

We recently stayed with good friends (on their recommendation) at the Langdon Court Hotel for a 5-day break. Having stayed in this area frequently some 21 years ago, I had very high expectations: they were comfortably surpassed. Overlooking a valley and just 15 minutes down to the sea, its location is stunning and elicited a feeling of tranquil isolation. We enjoyed a lunch at Langdon Court Hotel in April. The hotel is beautiful, an ancient family house with views over the rolling devon hills. The restaurant was very busy, and was cosy and informal. We chose the set three course menu. The soups were rich and tasty, but were let down as they were not warm enough. The roast beef was superb however, and the seasonal vegetables were passable.
