The place is fantastic!
I'm writing this review because I can't believe the bad responses! We stayed once towards the end of last year, and once in April (our first anniversary) this year. We have stayed in the Brighton Rock room and Noel Coward room. They were amazing... HUGE jacuzzis in both and fabulous, well sprung comfy beds. What's the problem? I think this is a Mr and Mrs Smith hotel, and some people don't like that!!!! We went for a smutty weekend (trying to conceive our first child), intended to spend most of it either in bed or in the... more
Great Hotel - Highly Recommended!
Great hotel, located right on the seafront and within about 10 minutes walk from the main shopping area, restaurants and pubs/bars. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit. We stayed in the Lewes room, which was furnished to a high standard - better than many other 4* hotels I have stayed in, despite the Granville being only 3*. The luxury double shower in the Lewes room was fantastic! The hotel has a good, stylish dining room and breakfast was excellent with lots of choice.
Average stay in very small room
Stayed in the Mrs. Fitherbert's room for three nights. Was disappointed by the size of the room. Was told by front desk "you saw the pictures on our web site and knew what you were getting". The one picture on the web site does not give an accurate description of how small the room is. There is very little room to move around. I stubbed my foot several times on the end of the bed and my wife got her head pretty bad on the desk one morning while getting something from her bag under the desk. The room was well decorated and the bed... more
Give it a Try!
We stayed at the Granville in the Brunswick Suite for two nights and found it to be comfortable, cosy and clean. And the jacuzzi easily fits two which was a great added bonus! I had originally booked the Black Rock Room but was put off by a review I read on Trip Advisor so changed for the Brunswick at £155 per night and it was worth every penny. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was outstanding. I would recommend a stay at the Granville to anyone who finds "The Holiday Inn" type of hotel a bit... more
Like staying at your eccentric Aunt's place
I stayed at the Granville Hotel for one night in September 2006. I arrived late and was checked into the Beardsley room on the 4th floor. The room was booked by someone else for £80. The hotel is charming - the elevator is straight from the 70's, the layout is confusing and the rooms are all different - it makes a nice change from your typical box room hotels! The bed was the comfiest I've slept in and the big roll-top bath was a real treat as well. The TV only had 4 channels though, and the iron didn't work. The breakfast is... more
Terrible hotel & Incredibly Expensive
I booked somewhat late for a weekend stay on Brighton. American Express recommended the Granville & booked us the Brighton Rocks room. The room was almost £200 for the night, which was much more than other much better, albeit fully booked, hotels. It was falling to pieces, with the bathroom door off its hinges, and all the fittings were very tired and dated. It had a feeling of being unclean. Would no recommend anyone stay at the Granville given the prices we paid.
First Rate!
My partner and I stayed at the Granville for two nights in February this year. We had originally booked Beardsley Room for our stay, but once we arrived at the hotel they advised us that a former guest had put rose petals in the bath and the maid was having a hard time cleaning them off. Without any prompting from us (we were prepared to wait as there was a charming bar downstairs) they offered us an upgrade on our room. We were to stay in the Lace Room. The rooms was a good size, and although the bed was a little narrow, comfortable and... more
loved it!
i stayed at the granville this weekend and i have to say that its a great hotel, we stayed in the balcony room which has wonderful views of the sea and a great jacuzzi which was huge! the staff were very friendly, its also located very close to most places! i definatley would go back again.
Fantastic!!!!
The best hotel i have stayed in, in Britain!!! Absolutely first class from the moment myself and my wife walked in. We were shown a number of rooms all unique with the exception of a superb sea view which they all boasted. Our only regret was that we could only stay in 1 room!!! We opted for the japanese which was brilliant and apart from the panoramic views had a jacuzzi!! If we were not expecting our first child the marina room would have been our choice of room ( you have to see it to believe it!!!) Full english brekkie... more
dreadful
worst hotel expericence ever.... Shabby, so noisy that we could hear everything from the room above, inclduing sneezing, walking...we were kept awake by the noise... aviod like the plague... I am also convinced that most of the good reviews have been written by the hotel themselves as I cannot accept how anyone thinks his hotel is anything other than dreadful!
