Scirocco Apartments

We stayed at Scirocco Apartments for 4 nights in Sept 06 and had a wonderful stay. We had arranged with a hotel to have a transfer to pick us up from the port. Unfortunately, the transfer bus dropped us off far from the hotel and just told us to walk up a cobblestone road (hill) and down some steps. We ended up being lost, and tired of lugging our luggage around. We reached Fira without making a reservation and found this amazing hotel while walking around town. We looked at quite a lot of hotels, most of them more expensive than Scirocco Apartments and not even close when it comes to room standard. As with most of the hotels in Fira this one is built into the mountain. It’s quite a trek down to the hotel, which isn’t on one level, the studios are all descending down to the pool. Stayed at the Scirocco Apartments for 3 nights in mid-August 2005. Before I get into any of the glowing remarks, let me say first and foremost, if you are not willing to do dozens (atleast 60-70) of steps everytime you leave and go back to your hotel, this is not the place for you. My husband and I stayed at the Scirocco Apartments for 6 nights at the beginning of Oct. 2005. The location and views were fabulous, and our room was comfortable and clean. We really liked our private balcony and breakfast on the terrace. The weather was warm and sunny and there was plenty to do in Fira, Ia, Kamari beach and ancient Fira. We really liked Selene, a nearby restaurant. Anja at Scirocco is a wonderful hostess, she gave great advice on shops, restaurants and drove us to and from the airport. I stayed at the Scirocco for 5 nights in early October and loved it. It is very centrally located in Fira and since it is perched on the cliffside, the views are amazing. I was surprised at how warm the weather was in October and didn't wear the jacket I brought. The beach towns and some of Oia were closing for the winter while I was there so Fira was definitely the place to be. 5 of us stayed here for 4 nights in August, 2005. From the moment we stepped off our bus transfer from the port, the Scirocco host Arthur, was waiting there with a big smile of his face. He took my bag off me and insisted on carrying it for me. We walked a couple of hundred metres through winding lanes, all downhill to the hotel. The Scirocco Apartments in Santorini are excellent not just because of the fantastic view but because Anja and her family are wonderful! They will do whatever they can for you to help your stay be a great one! I have been there two times including this year and will always look forward to returning again and again.

I had a very pleasent stay at Scirroco in 2000, and I have ever since, been longing to go back there. The hospitality were fantastic, so friendly and I really felt like home, as well as I also felt privacy and quietness. To wake up to such a view overlooking the harbour, a fantastic sunrise and later, sunset, to enjoy breakfast on the terrace, was more like a dream to me. Stayed for a few days in June of 2002. The hotel is on a very quiet strip. not much activity except the donkeys carrying supplies or other guests coming to and from the center of town. Great place to stay if you like to escape from the noise and tourist traffic that prevails in the center of town. Staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful. Our room on the caldera provided a breathtaking view of the caldera and harbour below. Despite the 58 steps down from reception the effort was worth it ( especially since our bags were carried both ways by the staff). Though the room was small it was very clean, but who worried we spent our time at the hotel relaxing on our terrace or by the pool watching all the action spread out below us. To top it off our neighbours from Australia were great fun and we often enjoyed wine, lunch or once an evening candelight picnic on the terrace. Sunsets... more
