NH Palermo

I stayed at the jolly in March and was so happy that when my family and I went back to palermo in July I didn't hesitate to book there. The staff were all as helpful as they could be and my adult children who do not speak italian were amazed at how everyone went out of their way to help them. The area is old palermo so not so fancy but the location makes it possable to walk almost anywhere. We stayed at the Jolly Hotel in Palermo on the last leg of our Sicilian tour in July 2006. As previously mentioned the hotel is in a good locale and you can easily reach the centre and sights on foot. My wife and I plus our little dog stayed at the Jolly for several nights. Its location right on Foro Italico with a nice new park on the other side and the sea beyond made it very pleasant for us. Plus, walking back into the city gave us a wonderful impression of the true Palermo and its people, especially in the evening. I have read with care, the reviews prior to this writing, and must say the negativity is unwarranted. My wife and I toured the entire country of Italy this past April, and when we arrived at the Jolly Hotel Palermo, we were treated with the utmost respect and endless care. In fact, had it not been for the staff at the hotel, we would have never found our family in Corleone - the main reason we went to Sicily. The Jolly Hotel Palermo, despite older reviews, was absolutely fantastic when we stayed there for a few days in January. It was a wonderful way to start our first trip to Sicily- finally, after years of talking about it! We were in the part of the hotel that has already been remodeled, and it was really fantastic, extremely clean, contemporary and stylish. We stayed here on a tour of Sicily. Yes, the rooms had brown carpeting on the walls. However, we did not encounter any rudeness as other reviewers have. The front desk was helpful and the dining room staff was engaging and professional. I wouldn't choose this as a destination hotel, but it was adequate.

This hotel was the most unfriendly and rude of any place that we stayed during our 2 week travel of Sicily. They were totally unaccomatating to any requests we had for sightseeing. The restaurant is rated "very poor". We had a party of six and all agreed never to use a Jolly again.

The rooms were horrible. The carpet was filty and the showers had stinky mold. The staff was rude and not very accomodating. The location was ok. The hotel rooms need remodeling. The mattress was lumpy and very uncomfortable. The ocean view was great and its only asset.

My husband and I just stayed at this hotel for two nights in June 2005. I was extemely dissapointed. The rooms were really outdated, with brown carpeting everywhere. The bathroom was also in need of being updated but was pretty gross with moldy shower curtains and dirty floors. On entering this hotel the foyer and other public rooms seem quite impressive. However the bedrooms are certainly not. They seem to be in dire need of updating. Ours had a brown 1970,s style shag pile carpet on the floor and half way up the walls that seemed to hang on to an awful smell of cleaning chemicals or such like. The bathroom was also way overdue for a facelift and our door did not close. You might be wise to ask to see the room before accepting the room.
