Mountview

We stayed at the Mountview last weekend and were thoroughly impressed. We had a room at the top of the hotel with a view across St Helier. The room was spotless, modern, light and airy. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the service efficient pleasant and effective. Breakfast was fine, with a good choice and plentiful, served quickly and was hot. Stayed here one night as this was the only place on the island that wasnt extortionate. Was very pleasantly surprised. Reception was very friendly, room was immaculate and large with hairdryer, kettle, tv etc. Breakfast was included which was decent, choice of cereals and hot breakfast. Bar maid was even kind enough to open a bottle of wine we had bought. Only 5 mins walk to town. I would definatley recommend this hotel, I've stayed in a few on the island and this has been the best value and modern.

Hotel is located close to the central shopping area of St Helier and the bus station although is situated on a gentle slope. For a party of four ladies on a weekend break it was perfect. The rooms were clean and appeared to be quite newly decorated. The breakfast was good and all the staff were very friendly and courteous. I would definitely return, excellent value for money. For good restaurants head down to Kensington Place, a wide variety of lovely small eateries, which is less than a 5 minute stroll away.

Used the B&B as a stop gap for 2 nights after spending 4 nights at the Pomme D'or. Recepionist was friendly enough on arrival. Allocated a room above the entrance. Room was spacious and modern, however the bathroom smelt very damp after using and had a very unsavoury odour. Our beds were not made up following the first night even when someone had clearly been in to open the windows. This is hardly what you expect, especially when the prices are hiked up for July/August. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful on arrival. Our room had a lovely, contemporary and clean feel to it and was spacious and quiet with a door opening out onto a courtyard at the back. The bed was extremely comfortable. Walking into town in the evening took around 10 minutes Of all the places we stayed in our week walking round Jersey I would say that the breakfast here was the worst. It seemed completely disorganised and the food wasn't of a high standard, which was a shame because everything else about it was great

What can I say just got back an hour ago - The Hotel was great Nice Friendly Staff very helpful don't be put off from the front of the Hotel the room we had was very clean comfortable Beds great courtyard to chill out in great Breakfast. About a 10 min walk from the beach and about 5 mins from a local shops ect... Great place to stay would stop again it is a little dated but it's worth checking out.

My mother (59) and myself (29) booked the hotel after viewing photos of it on the internet - thankfully it was a good choice for our long girly weekend. All of the hotel staff were extremely friendly, we had a deal and half board was included - the breakfast and evening meal were excellent and the service was so quick. Our twin room was spacious and the shower was powerful. There was plenty of storage and good ventilation with large windows. The room was serviced everyday. We did a last minute deal for a long weekend in jersey they give us a deal at the mountview hotel. We can say that we enjoyed the hotel very much. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was nice and clean, our room was cleaned each day. The food was nice and hot and was on your table in know time. Nice for a 2 star hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 10 years and I have always found the staff friendly and attentive. The food is of a good quality and theres plenty of it as breakfast is buffet style self service!! When I stayed there this month I found to my delight that they had begun a refurbishment. The rooms are delightful, clean, light and comfortable. For once the refurb was complete ie not just a new duvet cover. Situated on a main road, just past a blind bend, you take your life in your hands just trying to cross the road outside Mountview. Then there were the rooms, one of which was unclean. There was a strange smell on entering, the source of which became clear when checking the bathroom. The toilet had been used, and not flushed or cleaned. It was extremely disgusting, and clearly the staff do not rate cleaniness or hygiene as a priority, as the receptionist didn't apologise, but simply poured some bleach down the toilet.
