Purbeck House Hotel & Louisa Lodge

My partner and I have just spent four very comfortable nights at Purbeck House Hotel. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. The meals were of a very high standard with good quantity and variety. Our room was in the Louisa Lodge which was spacious and comfortable. Even the TV reception was good on a good sized screen. The en suite bathroom was a good size and had a very effective shower unit over the bath,

I can't believe we've all stayed in the same hotel!! My husband and I (OMG I sound like the Queen!) have just had an excellent two night break, - an exquisite building inside and out, refurbishments are tasteful and in keeping with the Victorian era, (nothing was dirty or shabby!) Our room was large and overlooked the gardens, staff were friendly and attentive and breakfast cooked to order. We’ll stay there again!!

This hotel looks appealing on the outside and has attractive period character on the inside. Very friendly and helpful staff who deserve a special mention. Booked at the last minute and special request of sea view met. Good location - in the heart of Swanage. Room a little tired but had all that you needed. Great value including dinner in the package but I would have not considered it vfm for b&b package [same price]only given the ordinariness of the room. It's Monday as usual, but not as usual. I'm already missing the friendly atmosphere at breakfast, not to mention the quality of the breakfast itself. That's got me thinking about lunch now....oh dear. The quality of the cuisine set by the Chef, Martin, is excellent, often exceeding the quality we could expect in London or Surrey restaurants and certainly hotels! The atmosphere was warm and friendly as were the staff, the food was cooked to perfection, our short stay was really enjoyable.We were happy with all aspects of the hotel, we would of liked a shower in the bathroom, but that is the only minor thing I could think that was missing!

We stayed for one night at the Purbeck House (Louisia Lodge) Hotel in Swanage this August. What a disappointment it was. A superb building and garden but the service and value are appalling. The reception area says it all: disorganized and untidy. The room we had (located in Purbeck House) was bland and cheap. Also, they charge extra if you want to use your credit card.

I decided to stay for a Sunday night after reckoning that on balance previous comments were positive. I was greeted in very friendly fashion and shown to a good-size single room with a sea-view. Decoration is on the flowery side but guess that's in keeping with the Victorian origin. Having read a previous review, I was a little concerned about my trip. I need not have worried, as the hotlel was superb. The welcome was genuinely warm. The staff were attentiveness itself, and pleasant throughout our stay. The food was consistently excellent. The hotel is a mixture of genuine "olde worlde" and modern facilities - a winning combination. Could not have been better.

After reading an awful review on this site about the Purbeck House Hotel my husband and I were wondering what terrible things awaited us on our weekend away. On arriving at the hotel we found the staff and accomodation very good indeed. The room was very clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the sea. The breakfasts we had were more than adequate, and the two evening meals we had we couldnt fault at all lots of food well cooked and presented. The manner of the staff was excellent at all times. Possibly the worst hotel experience I have ever had has prompted me to write this. I've never written a hotel review before. Swanage is a lovely place to visit, but don't waste your money staying in this dreadful hotel. While Purbeck House looks lovely from the outside - an imposing building in the centre of town - inside is a different matter. Our room was cramped and dirty.
