happy, friends and good value for money
I stayed at this hotel due to working commitments. I enjoyed the stay, and all the staff where friendly and helpful and trust worthy. If i was to come back to plymouth to work i would certainly rebook with this hotel. the srevice was outstanding.
friendly helpful place to stay
i stayed at the camelot with husband and 9 year old we stay here every year. the rooms are very clean. we had a double ded and bunkbeds the bath room was spot on. The breakfasts was really nice sets you up for the day. helen was very helpful and would recommend to anyone, however not any good for whell chair users as there is no lift. the camelot is only a stone throw away rom the hoe, 5 mins from the barbican and 5 mins from town. i am looking forward to staying there next year
Excellent
Just like to say thank you to Helen and her staff for a very pleasurable overnight stay. Will definitely be going back in the very near future
Camelot Hotel, Plymouth - a great place to stay
I stayed at the Camelot Hotel and then looked up the reviews on your site. They were all complimentary, except one by 'SherpaWifeMother' - who I think must have stayed somewhere else, or be inhabiting a different space/time continuem. I found the dining room on the ground floor and had a good breakfast, not in the basement as she claims; there were no rottweilers; no damp anywere; va ery pleasantly decorated (if compact) en-suite room and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I think you should detete this derogatory review because so many of the... more
Excellent small hotel
I have often been bemused when trying to evauate a hotel for our holidays by scanning through reviews. They so often range from 1 to 5 for the same place. Which isn't very helpful. However, I am amazed at the review of the Camelot Hotel which only offers a mark of one and complains about everything. I nearly always stay at the Camelot when I visit Plymouth (about 3 -4 times a year), if I can get in! The place is always extremely clean, the staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast is lovely. Admittedly they have... more
Avoid at all costs
THe hotel was recommended by the tourist board and unfortunately did not live up to the description on their website. It was a prime contender for the loacation of Fawlty Towers. The rooms and indeed the whole hotel smelt of damp and was musty. The bar was stocked with old books and the comfy sofa turned out to the local rottweillers bed. It looked like a hovel and smelt worse. The bedrooms were no better. The restaurant was located in the basement and we were informed on arrival that they did not open for anything other than... more
well run small hotel
Good location for Plymouth Hoe, the Barbican and town centre. Had 2 "family rooms " each with double bed and single "put-up"bed.- very clean room and bathroom with nice toiletries, but think you would struggle if you had a family of 4 , both family rooms were too small to comfortably accomodate another bed. Our room was light and airy with a lovely big window looking out onto the street, the other family room had by other members of our party was less bright and the window looked out onto a wall , it was apparently also quite noisy as... more
Where were the pasties?
Tried out the Camelot for May Bank Holiday, based on the strength of previous TripAdvisor recommendations. It has a good location, with easy access to Plymouth Hoe and the city centre/theatre district. The Barbican (old town) is also a leisurely stroll from the hotel. Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet the proprietor (Helen) or sample those famous pasties that the other reviewers mentioned. It seemed that there were only 2 staff on duty for the Bank Holiday weekend - he was Spanish, she was French (no sign of Helen). While we... more
Check out the food!!
Excellent family run hotel. I have stayed there several times with my husband and 2 daughters and we have aways been made to feel comfortable and welcome. There is nothing that these people won't do for you to make your stay enjoyable. THE FOOD IS ALL HOME COOKED AND IS FANTASTIC> CHECK OUT THE PASTIES THAT HELEN MAKES!!!! Thanks to all of you and see you again. Soon!
