Yeoldon House Hotel

This small welcoming hotel has wonderful views over the river and a beautiful garden in which to relax. The room was comfortable the only downside being the bathroom which although clean and functional was small and in need of modernisation. We enjoyed the meal in the restaurant and the pancakes for breakfast were superb. A hotel that we would recommend to friends.

When booking the hotel we were offered the last room available and were therefore a little worried that it would be small. Although with only side views of the garden and estuary, the room was prettily decorated with all the amenities expected. We are however going to start a campaign for tiny portable TV's to be abolished and consigned to the scrap heap and this room's offering was no different. This was the third time we'd stayed there over the past 7 years and it just gets better and better. This time, we noticed how much the gardens had improved, with beautiful flowers in terraced beds, leading down to a large pond with fountain, and decking where you can sit under the eucalyptus and listen to the wind in the trees. After trial testing the hotel in November , Yeoldon Hotel was booked for our daughter's wedding in June. From the offset we were extremely impressed by the continual communication and the attention to detail given prior to the wedding. We live in Spain and having friends and relations in various parts of Devon we try to visit at least once a year. We were first recommended the Yeoldon House in 2003 since then have stayed there on our visits. The house is situated in ideal surroundings, the gardens are well maintained with a restful seating area around a small pond and from the garden gate you can take a stroll along the river to the town of Bideford. The best hotel we have visited in many tears. The food was five star and the staff helpful and a pleasure to be with. Our rooms and the hotel were well maintained and the veiws over the gardens and river are spectacular.

I'm not the sort of guy who rushes into print about my views or experiences with restaurants and hotels, but I make an exception with Yeoldon House because of the sheer delight of staying there with my wife. Delightful hotel, beautiful setting, fabulous food, and above all most personable and friendly attention from the owners Mr & Mrs Steele and their staff. We shall go again!

My wife and I have just had a weekend exploring North Devon and we stayed at Yeoldon House, a decision which we did not regret for a moment during our stay. We stayed at the YEOLDON HOUSE for our 25th wedding anniversary weekend. My husband surprised me with a weekend break for our 30th anniversary, and I have to say its a lovely place to stay . The rooms are spotless and smell of fresh flowers which are placed about in various parts of the room ( a lovely touch i think). The food is second to none as the owner is a top chef......no complaints what so ever....We have stayed in 5* hotels all over the world and I would put the Yeoldon well above some of their standards, for a 2* hotel... more
