Had two suites for one night to accomodate two families. We found the place to be very charming with lots of character. Although full English breakfast was not included in the price, continental breakfast was adquate for us. The hotel has no lift but the receptionist was very helpful and tried to help us. All in all, a nice comfortable hotel with charm.
Impressive, but pricy
from lstephan1
The Dukes Hotel near downtown Bath is nicely furnished with large rooms. The manager goes out of his way to see to your comfort. The food in the restaurant is quite good and well presented. But, it is a bit over the top in the price of the rooms and meals. If you are concerned with price there may be better values in Bath.
A vary good small hotel
from JohnH_10
Stayed here with my wife for two nights and we were very pleased. The location is within easy walking distance of the main sights of Bath. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was a good size, very clean and well furnished. The bathroom was traditional in style but well equipped. We ate in the hotel restaurant on the second night. The meal was excellent, one of the best we've ever had. Wonderful food, attentive but not obtrusive waiters. We wished we'd eaten there both nights. My only caviat is that the room was not...

Shame about the breakfast
from Leosteve
Spent a weekend there in mid-February 2006 which included a meal in the restaurant under a new chef. I liked the hotel very much - great location, decor is stylish and not too overdone, front of house staff could not be nicer or more helpful. The food in the restaurant is good but was better when I visited 2 years ago, under a different chef, when it was superb! [An excellent alternative is The Olive Tree - expensive but worth it]. If you, like me, love to have hotel breakfasts as something special one cannot always have at home, you...

Absolutely superb

We stayed at Dukes Hotel on a special weekend rate and found it to be first class. Although we had boooked a standard double, we were upgraded to a 4-poster suite with views over Great Pultney Street. The room was very tastefully decorated and featured some nice prints, period wallpapers and curtains. The bathroom was huge as were the robes. Our rate included dinner on one night and I must say that it's one of the best meals I've had – including some in renowned London restaurants. It was outstanding. Service, from the reception, through...

Overpriced and overhyped
from A TripAdvisor Member
Hassle to get to and over hyped in this forum. I expected a lot more for my money - although my boyfriend paid. Breakfast was slow and cold when it came. Bed on last legs. Didn't like the pretension of the desk staff women either. I won't be going back.
Excellent Choice

My family stayed in two suites for a short break between Christmas and New Year. The decor and furnishings were excellent. We found the staff extremely helpful. The location is perfect, quiet but a short stroll to the centre. Highly recommended.
Fantastic Location and Service
from willie266
We had an excellent stay at this hotel. The location is ideal and only an easy walk from the station of around 10-15 minutes as we had to take in the sights! Service was exceptional, with friendly attentive staff ready to help at any moment. Having chosen to eat in the Cavendish Restaurant downstairs we found again the service was excepetional. The food was outstanding and easily comparable with some of the best places London has to offer. In fact we ate there again the next night! Our room was a standard double which was...

from imakay
Dukes is highly reccommended by us; we just stayed there and it couldn't have been better. Terrific location, quiet but close to everything; excellent service, lovely rooms. And do try the resturant, the food is wonderful. We would definenately stay there again when we return to the lovely city of Bath.
