Sandals Grande Riviera Beach & Villa Golf Resort

Stayed at Grande Sport from 3/27 to 4/3. Stayed in a villa that was very clean and the pool was great. Yes the villas can use a little TLC and you will get some small lizards in your room, just ignore them. Did not use the jittneys but walked, hills are a little steep but a good workout. Beach is small but fun. Liked walking over to Sandals for the lunch buffet. Bus ride from airport is not so bad. Ate most dinners at Orchids and San Gennaro. Food was very good at both. We were at Sandals Ocho Rios April 8-11, 2004. THE RIDE TO OCHO RIOS: We read complaints about how harrowing the 2-hour ride is. We were in Jamaica from February 28th through March 6th, it was a bit rainy but nice warm temperatures. I was a little nervous to go to Beaches after reading some of the revues especially after staying at the Grand Lido San Succi last year but the bad revues were wrong, it was great place to go especially for the price. Wow... The high rated post here truly scare me. If you have ever traveled and stayed at a Motel 8 and enjoyed your stay, then go to Beaches Grande where your room will be very comparable. Critters in the rooms, poor service, bad, bad food, not to mention the linens in the rooms were very old and dirty. The beach is further than most would want to walk while on vacation, or you cant wait on a dirty bus and be at the leisure of the bus driver and their schedule. Just returned from Jamaica and Beaches Grande Sport last night... and already wish we were back. Traveled with two other couples from Thu. 03/18 to Mon. 03/22 and had a wonderful time. Flight in and out on Air Jamaica from Atlanta was good, Montego Bay Sangster Airport was not so good (baggage difficulties, very crowded and hot at Customs abt. 45 minutes to get through) then onto the bus to wait another 30 mins. before finally leaving for resort. My wife and I stayed at SOR from January 2nd through 9th, 2004. Before going we read all of these reviews. After reading them, we were surprised how quite a few people nit-picked over small problems, and how they let it ruin their vacation. We flew on Air Jamaica, which was great. My husband, best friend and her husband were at BGS Dec 30 - Jan 4 (we transfered to Sandals MoBay for the last two days of our trip - I will explain). The only word that I can think of to describe this resort is horrible. The brochures that you look at previous to the trip are such a joke. If you are thinking of booking at this resort, PLEASE don't do it. You will definitely be disappointed. I can't believe that previous guests actually rated this place high. For years I wished to visit a Sandals resort, having heard so much about them and seeing their fabulour brochures. I just returned from Jamaica and was terribly disappointed in Beaches Grande Sport Resort. I moved after 24 hours to Sandals Dunns River and was totally pleased with everything. Grande Sport is OK if he would be rated properly. It is NO MATCH for Dunns River and even Sandals Ocho Rios. The spa at Beaches Grande Sport was wonderful. I arrived for my appt. about 1/2 hour early as requested. I was asked to fill out a health questionnaire and shown to the locker room where I was given a locker, robe and flip flops. Since it was still a little early I relaxed in their tropical rainforest room. When it was time for my massage i was brought to this room lit by scented candles.
