Gervis Court Hotel

We booked a family room for 3 nights at the Gervis Court Hotel, Bournemouth through the website. On arriving and being shown our room, we were very disappointed by the poor standard of cleanliness and maintenance of the whole hotel in general, and our room in particular. One of the beds was so dirty that I felt it had been in a skip before, there were thick cobwebs in the bathroom going from one end of the room to the other, the carpet was very dirty and stained, and much of the furniture was covered in dust. We stayed in 3 twin rooms here for my birthday last weekend.Before we came here, I had a look at the comments on tripadvisor and worried a little bit. But we couldn't fault it after our stay. You get what you pay for. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent but I wouldn't want it every day as it is just too filling. the room had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. the teacups were dusty and suger was all over the dressing table top which housed the teatray. the bath was badly chipped and looked dirty and the towelrail was soap and water splashed. there was a cat sat outside the kitchen with the door open so no stopping it getting into the kitchen. we arrived late so no time to find anywhere else as we met with family on a great day out and this just spoilt it. the owner verbley abused my daughter-in-law to us (as she complaind to him on booking out)... more

We took our 2 children down to Bournemouth and stayed in Gervis Court hotel for 4 days. We liked the character of the hotel and friendly atmosphere.Location is excellent, close to town centre and the beach. We then wanted to extend our stay to Saturday night, however, the hotel was fully booked. The owner was very helpful and rang up about 10 hotels to find accommodation for us. We would recommand it.

I feel compelled to advise/warn others of my stay in this Hotel/Hovel. I booked 2 rooms for 1 night by phonecall to the establishment after viewing it's website. No pictures of the bedrooms appear on the website ...I wonder why? and in my experience the information portrayal on their website is a misrepresentation of what awaited us. Booked in a hurry due to a short notice surprise visit to family in the area. First impressions not good as car park untidy and badly laid out and weeds evident. Welcomed by helpful member of staff. Room dated, very large bathroom compared to size of bedroom. Shower not as clean as you would like and water came out at great pressure from a very short distance away - pretty unpleasant. A good value, friendly place with good food, a lovely atmosphere and attentive staff. Close to the town for all our needs.
