Just back from a very relaxing and enjoyable week at Eleana Apartments in Ireon. We flew from Athens after a few hectic days there - the flight is short and easy, and Ireon is only a few minutes drive from the airport at Pythagorion (although the small number of flights means that there is no disturbance from air traffic during your stay). These apartments are quite good. The proprietor is quite friendly but the provided facilities are very basic and there was an unwillingness to provide more. For example we asked for a bread knife (essential!) and we were told to go and buy one! Also the hot water runs out if you're not the first in the block to get up in the morning. It seems as though there is no back-up to the solar heating. There is no airconditioning, which was not a problem the week we were there, but would have been at other times.
