Plaza II Apartments
With a great pool and close to the centre of Laganas. Two buildings situated next to Plaza I, less than 300m to the shops, bars, restaurants and just a 200m walk along a track to the beach. Swimming pool where occasional BBQ's are held, a handy snack bar and Jacuzzi.

We stayed in plaza 2 at the start of June 08. The staff were brilliant especially Georges Greek dancing. The Greek night was great fun. However there were 4 of us, all girls, and each time 1 person had a shower the whole bathroom and kitchen area flooded and so did the corridor outside the room. Although we booked it as self catering we had no facilities to self cater with. Oh and 1 bed was broken. But we had a brilliant holiday, best week of our lives so far.

Me and my friend stayed in the Plaza II from August 29 2008 - Sept 5 2008. It was our first girly holiday, as we both just turned 18 this year and we absolutely loved it! The hotel and its' staff were excellent! The rooms are very basic, but ours was very clean and well presented when we arrived. George and the rest of the staff are very welcoming and make every effort to help you if there are any problems. George even arranged for us to have another room as our flights were very early in the morning. There was a lot of groups staying at this hotel, however, they did not abuse or disrupt the hotel really, we had a couple of nights when two groups decided to have an argument in the hall, at 5 in the morning, but apart from that everything was fine. The food in the hotel is really cheap and of good quality. The hotel is literally a 2 minute walk from the beach and a 10 min walk from the strip, it is the perfect location! Anyone booked up with Thomas Cook/Escapades without a doubt book up for the booze cruise and the beach party, we had the best time and met loads of new people! Overall, this holiday is ideal for groups of friends, couples that are looking for a fun, non-stop holiday.

Ignore the previous reviewers stupid comments about being completely disrespectful to the owners and fellow holiday-makers and getting away with it. Ive known George and his family for a while, and the last thing they want is groups of lads and girls coming on their holiday and acting like its their hotel and their rules etc. Despite what some misleading tour operators say, this is a family hotel, the owners cant pick and choose its customers, but i can assure you that they dont want divvies running riot and havin no respect for any the owners or other holiday makers, anything that gets broken gets paid for on the spot, and frequent rule breakers are thrown out.
George, Vassilis, Giotta, Konstantina, and Lola, are genuinely good people and will do everything they can to make sure you have a good holiday there. We stayed in the new plaza 1 and its been given a long overdue makeover, rooms were excellent and were cleaned everyday, and we had a good laugh with George and Vassilis in the bar in the night. The Plaza 2 is also very good place to stay, and any problems are dealt with asap. The only real problems seems to be that escapades has been been mixed into a family hotel by tour operators and the sooner thats dealt with the better.

I think its important to be aware of the distinction between Plaza II and Plaza I. Plaza II seemed just fine to me. More or less what you would expect from Greece, basic but clean. They had a nice pool and bar and we enjoyed our time there.
The trouble was that it wasn't Plaza II where our room was, it was it's poor cousin, Plaza I. Plaza I is like the forgotten wing of the hotel. It's pool is out of use, its extremely scruffy, its just doesn't seem kept any more. I'm not altogether convinced it's safe either. There was a lot of talk whilst we were there that George was either going to refurbish, or rebuild Plaza I. That should have taken place before last season but I'm hearing reports that it still hasn't happened this season. If tour operators are still booking guests into these rooms then they should not be.
My advice is clear. If you are thinking of booking then make sure you know whether you are going into Plaza I or Plaza II. If you are going into Plaza II then I suspect you will enjoy it. If you are going into Plaza I then don't, book elsewhere instead.

The Plaza II was great, we played loud music every night, was very loud, disrupeted the owners, came back at ridiculous times and the hotel owners were nothing but great to us. The Rooms are basic but meet the needs of a holiday to zante self catering, the price is very good for the location which is probs the best in the whole of laganas, you are 1 minute from the ebach, 1 minute from the strip but it is quite and at night no very little disturbance. The food at the Plaza II is great especially the bacon and sausages which are english and ther is a shop 1 second accross the road that sells watcer, alcohol, food, sun tan lotion everything you need.
If you are looking for a cheap holiday to zante wth fantastic accomedation and great 18-30 guests staying there Plaza II is the place too go too.
Ps: If u booked wth Thomas Cook deffo join escapades because the have great deals the bar crawls and beach parties are sic

Plaza hotel is Very good cheap hotel but is under rated in most of the reviews. The Kitchen was basic and rooms weren't that clean but still had everything u need and were spacious. Great bar, nice pool, food was reasonable as was the shop. Beach very close and so is the nightlife. Didn't need to pay for extra air conditioning and didn't feel the need to pay for a safe, plenty of hot water. We were put in plaza 1 to start with which is now all modern and seemed nice except there was just a fridge in the room, no kitchen so we got upgraded to room 106 in plaza 2 which has the biggest balcony (curves out). The block opposite reception is the best place to be if u want sun on ur balcony in the evening. If u want to cook it's not really a suitable hotel coz u just get 2 portable cooking rings and theres not many utensils, we had no sharp knife. Towels and sheets were a bit dirty but still bearable for a cheap hol.
Overall Can't fault the holiday and it's a great hotel for young groups of people.

I have just arrived home after staying here for a week from the 18th may to the 26th may. I heard alot of good and bad reviews about Plaza II from lots of different websites and i wasnt quite sure what to expect.
All i can say is i couldnt have wanted a more friendly and lovely clean apartments than these. Myself and my friends room wasnt overly big and it did have a small kitchen but the maids came every day with clean sheets and towels and they mopped and emptied the bins.
As for George, Giota and their son Vasillis they were really lovely people, always willing to help and if you had any problems they would see to it straight away.
The food was lovely and really reasonably priced, lots to choose from and always came within ten mins of ordering.
The bar opens at about 7am and usually stays open until the last person decides to go to bed! I came in from a night out one night and it was about 4.30am, there were no guests at the bar but the two night watchmen were there, i asked if i could have a drink and they said Yes so it really doesnt matter what time it is you will probably still get served.
Just outside of the Hotel there is a good sized supermarket with eveything you could need and there is also a little dirt track that leads straight down to the beach.
Over all i had a fantastic holiday and im looking forward to going back there again next year!

This is a shocking hotel, a disastorous choice. My 5 year old baby got bit by a stray dog on the beach and is suspected of having rabies. My 19 year old husband got into a fight with the aggresive George, who was later seen dining clientele. Watch out when walking back from the main kalmaki strip, as the road is very dodgy. Gangs of hooded locals threaten passers-by, and are known to rob and stab drunks. Various yellow and brown stains found on the bed linen, as also seen in the swimming pool. Loads of burberry capped youths running around, drinking stella and basically destroying the place. Also a strong aroma of mecidinal cigarettes and judging on the needles found a few 'diabetics'. A holiday from hell!

My mate and I have stayed at Plaza II for five years on the trot now. Although the accommodation is basic it is clean. I can never understand why people moan about the lack of self catering facilities - GET OUT AND ENJOY THE LOCAL RESTRAUNTS AND GREEK HOSPITALITY!
The hotel has an excellent bar, restraunt, pool and poolside area.
George and his Wife, Giota, and all the staff at the hotel are friendly and go out of their way to make all their guests feel welcome. So much so the Plaza II bar and restraunt often become the 'base' for many guests from other hotels near by.
Plaza II can be noisy in the early hours. It is only a few minutes walk from the main strip and in the July and August months attracts lots of younger guests because of this. The night porter is not a 'bouncer' and does his best to get the guests to keep the noise down. George does warn persistant offenders and I have seen a group of four lads kicked out for being nothing more than too noisy.
Laganas is an excellent resort that caters for all ages. Like all places the peak season months attract younger visitors which can cause older visitors and family groups some annoyance. Last year (2007) I noticed the police clamping down on rowdy and anti-social behaviour more than in previous years.
Plaza II is located within a two minute walk of the beach down a dust track. The track is uneven but its not a problem as long as you watch your footing. The beach stretches from Laganas to Kalamaki right across the bay at the south of the island of Zakynthos. The sea is crystal clear and you can walk out for a good quarter of a mile without it going deeper than your waist or chest in some places. The beach can be quite busy at the Langanas side of the bay, however, a short stroll towards Kalamaki will find almost deserted area's amongst the turtle nests.
Plaza II is a basic, clean, friendly and well located hotelappartment complex. I would have no problem recommending this hotel to anyone but dont expect the Ritz for the price!
George is quite keen to cater for just family and older guests but he has no say in who the holiday companies send to stay at Plaza II. I would suggest Laganas, like many other resorts, is not the place for older or family visitors during the peak months but if they do go a stay at Plaza II would be recommended.

I Stayed at plaza ii last year and i had the best holidays i ever had.The hotel is great,in a great location. The bar and the restaurant is really good and cheap and defently the coctails and the food are probably the best in town. There is a supermarket accross the road as well which is very cheap and it has everything you need.
I heard that plaza 1 has been repaired and it is going to be great.
I am going back this year

My friend and I stayed in the Plaza 2, end of October and had mixed feelings about Plaza 2 from the varied opinions we had read about.
All I can say is that we had the best holiday ever! George and his family are really friendly and couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. The rooms are basic and self catering facilities are limited but the food in hotel is great and there are restaurants in walking distance.
This is probably the best place if you want a cheap and cheerful holiday in close proximity to nightlife, beach and shops. There is a great pool and lounge area and seeing as we went for the nightlife you couldn’t ask for more! Definitely recommend Plaza 2, were already booking again for next year! We even had friends from a hotel down the road and they’re booking again for next year but want to stay in Plaza 2 after seeing it!

To be honest doesn’t look anything like the brochure, but don’t let that put you off.
We stayed in the Plaza 2 hotel in August 2007 and after asking the cleaners for some clean sheets as there had been hairs all over the ones when we first arrived, we didn’t really have a problem with anything after that.
George and his wife who run the hotel are really friendly and I'd say go see them if you have a problem about anything, one of our party had a problem with the shutters on their patio windows as it was hanging off the wall when they arrived, they told the rep on 3 different occasions and nothing was done, they told George and it was fixed with 10 minutes!!
The only downside to our holiday was that there were a lot of groups of boys and girls staying in the hotel, not a problem but when its 4 in the morning and all you really want to do is sleep and not listen to then screaming around the pool at each other it is a little annoying!!
They do have signs up around the hotel saying anyone found making a noise will be charged 300 Euros, which they didn’t enforce, the night watchman isn’t that great at keeping the noise down, he only knew how to say shush!
Apart from that the rooms are fairly clean, they cleaners come nearly every day but they never brushed the place just mopped the floor, so they basically just moved the dirt and sand around with the mop!
The resort is amazing though as this was our second time there we had a better idea of where to stay and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who was going, its literally 5 minutes from the main road and even though it’s that close, you don’t really hear any of the music playing in the bars.
Also the Kalamaki strip is a short 10 minute walk away from this hotel, definitely check out Georgios restaurant if you go, the food is the best on the island plus when you go they give you a 10% discount card which they allow you to keep, probably to make you come back but it’s so cheap and gorgeous it worked for us, shame we only found it on the Kalamaki strip a few days before we were coming home!
The beach is lovely, unfortunately we were there during the fires, and a lot of the ash washed upon the beach by us so it wasn’t nice swimming in it all.
If you do get the quad bikes out which are only as dangerous as you let them be, get a map and go to the resort where Keri beach is, it’s literally like swimming in a bounty advert, plus it’s a lot quieter and cleaner than the English beach in Laganas!
I would definitely go back!

Me and my mate stayed in the Plaza II and had a great time!
The apartments are ideally located within minute’s walk of the busy nightlife and the beach + there is a shop just next door selling most things.
The apartments are family run and are very friendly, Gorge the owner and little Lola who works behind the bar, which is open 24 hrs and sells food till about 8 I think.
The pool area is very nice, a good size and clean with plenty of sun beds for every one.The cleaners didn’t come that often but us two blokes just wanted some where to crash so we weren’t all that bothered, also when we arrived our rooms weren’t ready, we had to wait about 30 minutes we were compensated with a few free beers at the bar, they went down a treat!
There were a mixed bag of people of all ages, however if I had kids I would not have taken them there just because a few people were a bit to lagered and rowdy at times for families, just what you would expect of I lively resort like this in high season.
The rooms are basic but do the job, over all I had an excellent time and if I ever return to Laganas I would stay at the same place again.

The location of this hotel is good, yet at the same time it has it's disadvantages. If you're looking for something slightly quiet but near the action then I'd recommend this place.
The road from the hotel itself to the beach is a 2 minute walk but is pretty dodgy and I wouldn't recommend walking down there at night. We arrived to our hotel to find that the shower was broken and a day later found that our toilet wasn't flushing.
Quite a lot of elderly couples were here. I'd say that I could have used my money to find something worth a bit more however all staff are friendly with a good swimming pool.
