Dunstane City Hotel

Quality bedroom. Not massive but very comfortable. Didn't want to leave..........

Just back from a weekend at the Dunstane City which is the newly refurbished and extended sister hotel to the traditional Dunstane House Hotel just across the road. All round a very good standard of accomodation and service but this is really a room and breakfast facility and not what I think of as a traditional hotel.The majority of the rooms are in the new extension at the back and are well furnished in contemporary design with nice bathrooms - all functional with a bit of style. I booked Dunstane Hotel for my business meeting and 6 rooms in Dunstane City for our overnight stay. The service we received at our business meeting was the best we have had for a long time. Shows that a privately onwed business can beat the standards of the Hilton MArriott etc for business services. Personal, responsive and attentive. We could not have asked for more. This is one of the nicest hotels we have visited and definately the best without going abroad. The parking was great and the location fantastic and easy to find. We did not bother with the buses instead we walked into the centre of Edinburgh which we found to be easy and quite a nice walk. The breakfasts where lovely we especially liked the choice of fresh fruits and the good selection of juices available. The rooms where lovely and spotlessly clean with lovely toiletries. Out of all the hotels we looked at in Edinburgh (and we looked at a lot), Dunstane City seemed to be the best based on the price, pictures of rooms, free parking and we were not disppointed!! The hotel was easy to find and there was free parking at the front. When we looked at hotels in the City, parking seemed to be a problem as there was a cost of £10-20 per night and often the car parks were not on the premises. stayed at this hotel two night dec 5th to the 7th for my birthday hotel was beautiful the bathroom was immaculate, had stayed at the malmaison in july for wedding night and paid a fortune and this hotel was just as beautiful and as comfortable at less than half the price...staff very helpful nothing to much trouble, My husband left his mobile and they posted it out straight away without any hassle. We found this hotel whilst gazing online at long lists of places to stay in Edinburgh . It was a fab find - decorated in a very modern style with a lovely lounge/breakfast/TV room, which is also where the reception is. We had an initial issue with our in that the toilet seat was broken, but we were moved to a diffent room quickly and politely. Sadly this move meant we could no longer get the wireless internet conection which would have been useful for our stay - a minor point but the hotel does advertise this facility as being... more

A comfortable and convenient hotel with lovely superior room. Staff welcoming and helpful - the bar with more atmosphere across the road at the sister hotel where bar staff are well trained in their art... Only one issue, related to overheating - a problem with the controls meant the room radiator took 24 hours to cool off, leaving the room uncomfortably hot, despite a cooling fan and open window. This was a fantastic hotel for a good value price. The room decor was contemporary and smart, the facilities were excellent and the staff were beyond helpful. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door. A bus stop directly across the road also made getting into Princes Street quick, cheap and easy. A fantastic breakfast selection topped it all off. If you want a modern luxe hotel without paying through the nose, the Dunstane City is perfect. We loved it!

Fantastic hotel in a very convienient location only about a 15 minute walk from the city centre of Edinburgh. The rooms are very large and we had one of the biggest bathrooms I've ever seen in any hotel. Staff were very helpful and we couldn't have asked for more for a weekend break.
