Booked for week of Paris Air Show, three days later I was informed by e-mail that they have overbooked and could not accomodate me. Spent days looking for new hotel then after booking one and having a great Paris Air Show, got back to find they had billed my card for the... more

Charming, good for the price, good location
We got the room through Hostels.com for 4 of us--my folks and my husband and I. It was better than we hoped. We had the top floor which gave us 2 separate bedrooms--separated by the bathroom. And one room had a little balcony with the view of the Eiffel Tower. The other room had a window with a view of our neighborhood. There is a small elevator which holds 2 people or 1 person & luggage. Similar to some elevators in Vienna or the rest of Europe (what do you expect with old buildings). It was clean and cheap for the 4 of us. <br... more
Cheap and nasty
Not what we expected at all. Upon arriving at the hotel, there was noone in the reception, eventually the bar lady came over and tried to help us. Couldnt find our booking then eventually did. We had booked a twin room, but all they had was a small double bed. The lift was tiny barely one of us could fit. No telephone, coffee maker and a Tv that just worked. The bathroom was tiny. You couldnt turn around in it. No shower curtain and only a hand held shower head. The 2 tiny towels were old and hardly dried you. With no... more
absolutely fine
The hotel we were origonally booked for was over booked so we taken to the Hotel de Mauber. We stayed in room 18 for our first night. Claen and tidely decorated. However the bathroom is a bit on the narrow side. The following two nights we were in room nineteen, a bigger room with the toilet and bathroom seperated. However there was a better felling of space with the bathroom and also with the room in general. The staff were overall helpful and friendly and they were happy to look after luggage for us on departure day. Breakfast... more
Nice lobby, but the room's a dump
After missing our flight home from CDG, we desperately needed to find a hotel for one more night in Paris. The folks at Travelex at Gare du Nord found us Hotel Maubeuge, an affordable 2-star hotel just a block from the train station. After dragging our suitcases through a muddy construction zone (not the hotel's fault), we were relieved to find a neat, pleasant-looking lobby at Hotel Maubeuge. The innkeeper was friendly and sent us up to room 21 on the fifth floor. That's when our horror story began. The small room looked like... more
Better than I feared it might be ;}
Just before I left for vacation, I read lots of recent reviews about this hotel and my fear level was rising (regarding cleanliness). How could it be that bad? So I tempted fate and stayed with my selection (which I booked 5 months before). The location was great ( 3 minute walk from Gare du Nord). The hotel staff was courteous and helpful. The room was small (just a double bed and a chair) but it did have en suite facilities and a TV. There is a lift if you need one. No air conditioning, but I knew that going into this.... more
A complete dump, but....
This hotel was not very clean and eveything about it was outdated. Our bed clothes were not changed in the time we stayed. Our original room was on the 2nd floor. It was cramped and dirty. Neither the TV nor phone worked. The traffic noise from the very busy road at the front was irritating. The bathroom was miniscule. The towels in it must have been 20 years old. On the second day the lift broke down, so we agreed to swap rooms with an elderly couple who were originally on the top floor and we had to haul all our luggage up a winding... more
not so great
We had the attic room with 2 double beds, and a bathroom, so four of us could stay there. Ok let's start: One bed broke in the middle of the night, the leg fell off! Then the heat didn't work in one of the rooms, and let me tell you January in Paris with no heat!! The bathroom was small, but ok. Our room was very spacious though, but dark and did not have really any furniture in it besides the bed. We complained to the front staff to change rooms, since the heat wasn't working. They did it after some coercion. The new room has windows that... more
Avoid at all cost!
We had a terrible room. The shower room has a very strong stale smell; I almost threw up the first time I went in. The linens didn't look clean. There is no pillow -- they only had this thin, stained, case-less bolster that is wrapped into the top of the bedsheet. (They did get us replacement pillows from other room when we asked). Breakfast (not included in the room price) consists of 1 roll, 1 croissant, and tea/coffee. You can get much better food elsewhere for 6 euro per person. The only positive (not a strong one) is that it's... more
Keep Looking!
I selected this hotel because of its convience to the Gare de l'Est, where I was arriving by train, and the Gare du Nord, for my connection to CDG. This hotel was absolutely disgusting! The linens and towels were old and yellowed. The covers had holes in it from obvious cigarette burns. Previous occupants' hair was found all over the bathroom with dust everywhere else. Noise from the street filtered into the room with the window locked shut. I would forget about its proximity to the train stations and recommend looking for another hotel... more
save your money
This hotel was absolutely disgusting. I've had better accomodations camping. Our linens were not changed when we arrived and they didn't change them during our stay. Other people's hair was everywhere. The bathroom and bed were dirty. The hotel itself was noisy and there was a lot of street noise. It's located in a not so scenic area. The only redeming factor is its location to the Gare du Nord. I wouldn't wish this hotel on my worst enemy.
