Travelodge Great Yarmouth Hotel

We spent 2 nights at this Travelodge. The bed was comfy. The bathroom was clean. Being used to the older style Travelodge rooms we found the new style one very lacking in storage. Only a very small area was available with 6 hangers for clothes. The bedside shelf is no more in the new style room, replaced by a completely useless niche just big enough for a Gideon's Bible in an upright position. My wife and I stayed overnight here to attend a sporting event. We booked just the night before travel so it was the full (refundable) price of £65. We advised the staff we would arrive late on the Friday night and worried unnecessarily about limited parking. In fact, there was plenty. As we had already said we were coming, we had already been checked in by the staff and no formalities were necessary except to be given the cardkey to our room. We attended a wedding in Gorleston with a reception at the Burrage Centre, James Paget hospital. The Travelodge was a 10 minute walk from the reception, so on our daughter's recommendation, we booked 2 nights here for just under £100.00. This is a fairly new Travelodge and has a Toby Carvery immediately next door. Too handy to bother looking for anywhere else to eat in the evening, as that would involve driving. A nice new travelodge situated on the A12 a few miles from Yarmouth. Stayed for 1 night, and facilites were as to be expected from a travelodge, although being a newly built hotel there was flat screen TVs and the whole place seemed very clean, light and spacious. Location wise was fine for us with a car, as the plan was just to set up base near to Yarmouth and enjoy a couple of days on the seafront. A nice clean spacious basic room, as you'd expect from a Travelodge. It's about 20 minute stroll from Gorleston seafront and nicely based just outside Great Yarmouth (3.5 miles). One thing we would point out though is that despite it being a new hotel (2007) there is NO lift which can present a problem. We booked a family room with a travel cot and called the day before our arrival to confirm our booking requirements. This hotel is brand new, has flat screen TVs and is a quiet location with local pub. Good spot if using local golf course and good road link into Gt Yarmouth No local amenities within walking distance so a car is essential
