What a whirlwind! Staying in a wigwam, climbing Benn Lawers, watersports on the Loch, I really couldn't ask for more. My husband is the sort of bloke who can't sit still and this place was perfect, even when I wanted to just sit by the Loch and read there was still... more

Loch Tay Wigwam - a great adventure for the kids!
I took my kids (aged 6&9) on an Easter adventure, staying in a wigwam for 2 nights at Loch Tay Highland Lodges, just a few miles from Killin. The wigwam was great! Clean, tidy, sleeping mats were very comfortable. TV, fridge, microwave, kettle and although I had a stack of £1 coins for the electricity meter we didn't have to use any ! Not sure what was going on with that as we used the tv & heater quite a bit. On arrival we were a little concerned as the area with the various wigwams (around 7 or 8) seemed very cramped in front of a... more
Compact with a fantastic view
My partner and I looked a the Ben Nevis tepee for a couple of days in March. The view was fantastic!! I took a lot of warm clothes thinking that the tepee was going to be cold during March but the little heater warmed up the small room nicely. As it was self catering we took our own food and cooked ourselves. There is cultery, plates and cooking equipment provided so you shouldn't need to take any of these with you. There is a resturant but it was closed Monday to Thursday. I am not sure if this was just during low season but on... more
overdeveloped and overpriced
After 7 years of long weekend breaks 4 times a year we have finally tired of loch tay highland lodges! We have always stayed in the teepees, mostly the wendy house!Very basic but charming ,but the bubble has burst. Over development and ever higher prices mean there are better value choices out there. The teepees are getting,to be blunt scruffy! To add insult to injury they refused to take dogs anymore, as this booking was to be made during feb and totalled 4 teepees and around the 500 pound mark I take it there is no recession at loch tay!We... more
Beautiful place, shame about the accomodation....!!!
We went to the Loch Tay Tepees recently and we are very disappointed with what we discovered when we arrived. We have stayed in similar accommodation in Elie, which we were very impressed with so expected similar or better accommodation here. We stayed in the “Wendy House" which according to the site is the largest of the tepees and more like a small lodge. From the outside of these tepees and the pictures on the internet we expected modern and reasonably comfortable accommodation. The interior was very tired with pictures of the... more
Fabulous place
We had a fantasic family holiday near Killin, staying at the Loch Tay Highland Lodges. The lodges look over the loch and the views are simply breathtaking. The lodges are more than adequate, especially the refubished ones, they are really nice. There is plenty room for kids to run about. There ia a tiny marina where you can hire small boats and do watersports. My boys, aged 14 & 9 did kayaking and archery. We hired a small boat and also went on a fast rib boat ride. We aslo hired bikes and cycled down Ben... more
