Paphos, the jewel of the west coast of Cyprus is the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Beauty. Holiday makers visit Paphos not only for its natural and historic attractions but also for the hospitality and friendliness of the Paphians. Queens Bay Hotel was built in 1991 just 8km north-west of the centre of Paphos town, in the most beautiful and relaxing part of Paphos. It commands impressive views of the surrounding evergreen banana plantations and sapphire-blue Mediterranean sea. There are extrensive gardens which stretch down to the beach where you can watch the sun set over the sea and is one of the finest 3* hotels in Cyprus.

This is the third time that my wife and I have stayed at QBH, and once again we were completely satisfied with the Hotel, the level of service, and the friendly staff, who make you feel at home immediately. Located in a beautiful setting, the hotel makes a very peaceful and tranquil place to spend a relaxing holiday, whilst providing all the facilities necessary to engage in various activities should you so wish.

The accomodation, and indeed all of the hotel and surrounding area is always kept spotlessly clean and tidy. The buffet meals are of a consistent quality, and are served in a very relaxing dining area, with constant attention by the excellent staff.

The evening entertainment is always of good quality and class, without being overbearing.

For those who drive, there are various good quality hire companies in Paphos area, and for those who do not wish to do so, there is a frequent bus service available a short walk from the hotel. We shall definitely return in the near future.

Have just returned from a week at QBH, our first time in Cyprus, and all I can say is what a lovely hotel, it was clean and well maintained. Had only booked B & B was able to eat in the hotel restaurant and was very impressed with the choice & cost.

The staff were polite and courteous always willing to be of help, even when we arrived at 5:30 in the morning.

Would recomend this hotel to any one of our friends.

Just returned from a stay in QBH and must say that I found it to be very good indeed. The official star rating does not do the place credit.

The hotel location was perfect and away from all the razzmatazz of Pathos but convenient for most places by car or public transport.

Staff at the hotel were quite friendly and the cleaning was superb- the room was returned to "as new" standard every day!!

In all, great value super food and ideal location.

Just back from a week at the Queen's Bay and thoroughly enjoyed it. I went there on my own for a break and found the staff and other guests to be really friendly. Good choices for breakfast and plenty to eat at dinnertime with a good variety throughout the week, the dinner was buffet style so you could have as much or as little as you wanted and have a taste of everything, normally 3or 4 fish/meat dishes per night plus a large selection at the salad and dessert bars.

The entertainment was a bit cheesy but everyone there seemed to thorougly enjoy it, from the bingo/quiz nights, haipa haipa hallelujah (it will make sense if you go) through to the cabaret singers and karaoke. Something for everyone. A nice terrace around the pool ensured everyone soaked up the sun that was on offer, also an indoor pool for the duller days of which there was only 1 when i was there. There's also a variety of daytime activities organised but i preffered to get on the bus and explore. Also to give you and indication of bar prices, all the pints were €3.08.

The rooms were sufficient for the purpose, tv with BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Sky News amongst others so you can watch your soaps albeit with a 2 hour time difference. Beds were comfortable enough and the shower always stayed at the right temperature with really good pressure.

The buses (10 & 15 have bus stops at the end of the road which is a light gradient) €1.35 for the fare to anywhere, be it 1 stop or 50 stops. During winter hours the buses run till 6:30pm and 11:30pm in summer season. The bus takes you directly to Coral Bay one way, with plenty of shops, pubs, and restaurants or to the market or the harbour the other way. Also drops you 2 mins from the tomb of the kings which was interesting to visit.

Last but not least, as explained earlier, make sure that you do get a sea facing room. You look right out over the med with nothing but sea in front of you. This makes for the most spectacular sunsets that i have ever seen in my life.

It is a little bit out of the way but that quite simply adds to the peace and tranquility of the surroundings. Where else can you waken up to orange trees growing outside your balcony and a totally unspoilt sea view, and banana groves on the other side. I will be going back, probably during summer months, the people are really friendly and nothing is too much bother for them.

Visted Paphos for the first time in January 2008 after being determind to spend the New Year celebrations abroad for a change. We were not in the least bit disappointed staying at the Queens Bay Beach Hotel. The staff were very professional and friendly and made our one week stay a very pleasant one.

I would highly recommended the hotel for those who like to be out of the main thrust of hotel complexes but still based within in easy reach of local attractions and amenities. I would say that the Queens Bay Beach Hotel is geared up mainly for couples or those that have grown up family however, the children that were there when we were clearly had a good time because the staff ensured that they were not left out.

The view of Queens Bay from our hotel room was spectacular, particularly as the sun set in the evening. A little further along is Coral Bay which equally can boast a beautiful sight across the water and offers a good variety of places to eat and drink.

The First Choice rep came into the Hotel several times during the week and we were able to get details and book trips such as a Jeep safari up into the Akamas mountains and also one to Cario for the day, tiring but fantastic. The hotel staff were available and always cheerful even when we raked in very late on an evening.

We enjoyed our stay so much we will go again this year perhaps in June when the weather is warmer. Looking forward to being truly pampered all over again. Will this pleasure never end!

This was our second visit to Queens Bay after being there in May 2007. Once again we had a wonderful time and not disappointed. On both occasions now we have been impressed with the quality of this hotel covering all aspects and would not have any reservation in recommending this hotel to our friends.

We found on this visit the clients in the hotel were a slightly older age group in comparison to our May holiday but given the fact it was winter we felt that this was expected. Still even in the winter you didn’t see hardly any children just as we found in May even though the clients in May were little younger. We would recommend this hotel to couples wanting a nice quiet relaxing time to chill out and soak up the sun. Its location lends itself to this with it being about 20 mins outside of the town and set back off the main road.

We upgraded our room to a sea view room from an inland view room, which we felt was better due to the winter sun being shorter and only in the front of the hotel first thing in the morning. Having the sea view meant we got the sun the best part of the afternoon, which was lovely to sit on the balcony.

In terms of staff we think they are great, some of them remembered us from May and our favourite is Antonis, he’s the restaurant Manger we think? Anyway he’s a great character always happy. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them and the service is always good.

In general we find the food very nice, full breakfast, cereals, fruit salad, cheeses, lovely bread, of course eggs, bacon, beans if you want a taste of little Britain etc. Also in the afternoon if you want a snack they have a nice lunch menu, you could easily share a lunch as there portions are so big. The evening meal this is buffet mostly international, to be honest the one down side of the buffet is that there is not enough Cypriot/Greek dishes, which we would have liked to have seen, but I guess it’s hard to satisfy every ones taste. In general the food is good, plentiful and tasty.

In short it all depends on what you want out of your holiday and hotel, for us we are totally satisfied with Queens Bay and will continue to visit our place in the sun.

My wife and I recently returned from a one week holiday at the Queens Bay Hotel, we were unsure what the hotel or resort would be like as it was our first visit to what turned out to be the fantastic island of Cyprus.

The hotel lies midway between the resort of Paphos and Coral Bay. And in itself is fairly remote although that said it is only a ten minute taxi ride (£8.00). Approx. To either nearby resort or a bus ride if preferred (buses every 15 mins on average). (0.90p) approx.

We found that car hire was a great option for ease of sightseeing and enjoyed four days of exploring the island. As the Cypriots drive on the left hand side as we do in England it really was a pleasure.

The hotel is suitable for all ages but appears to cater more for middle aged couples looking for a quiet, quality holiday!

We stayed on a half board basis and found the buffet style breakfast and evening meals to be diverse and plentiful. As for the staff they really were first class from the cleaning staff, bar staff, waiters, and receptionists etc!

It is a place we would be more than happy to re-visit again in the future for another holiday.

The only reason not to review the hotel at 10/10 is purely because of its location being outside of both resorts.

Alan.

Wow what a beautiful hotel. This was my first holiday with my mum since I was a nipper! And yes there wasn't many young people but if you’re after a chilled holiday with nice food, people then this is the hotel for you.

You must go on the Cyprus night on a Saturday which costs 25 pound-29 UK pound it’s such a laugh!!

Food is included and so is a bottle of wine all this is on the wave dancer 1 cruise ship. I think the rooms need a kettle and a fridge and then they would be perfect, we had a room with sea view which was an extra 60 pound and well worth it.

I was amazed at this hotel and how friendly the staff were as at first I thought it was fake or to good to be true as they say but they were such lovely staff if you go have a wonderful time.

Couldn't really ask for anything more. Queens Bay Hotel is perfectly clean; rooms are basic but all with balcony and air/con.

Pool/restaurants/bar were really good. I went with my 9 year old and she met loads of other kids. Breakfast is pretty poor but lunch and dinner were good, sometimes excellent. Drinks are expensive for Paphos but still (only) £2.20 a pint.

Great pool and location. Terrace is wonderful and evening dining area very nice. Best part is the staff who are charming and efficient.

We'll be going again.

I have just returned from a week’s holiday at QBH. The hotel is very clean although I agree with the comment that the shower is either hot/cold and nothing in between.

I went with my 19 year old son and really there were no people his age and very few mine. Yes the entertainment was cheesy; the drinks were very expensive, best time to try them was happy hour.

The pool was fine and we used that daily the sea by the beach at the back of the hotel looked like it had something nasty floating in it and to be honest we preferred the pool.

Having been to Cyprus before the beach at Protarus is much nicer and better for kids. The Crazy Spoon up the road looked huge but never seemed to have many people which put me off as I didn't think there would be a high enough turn over of food. I think the Doria Restaurant was the nicest we went to (out of the hotel up to the main road turn right walk down to the traffic lights and turn right almost at the end of the road past lots of banana plants. The staff there were friendly and the food good.

Remember with the exchange rate £1 cyp is in fact £1.20 and this can add up over the week. Cyprus in general is much more expensive than it used to be. This was our first visit to Paphos and probably the last holiday we will go on together so it was disappointing that there wasn't more to do to suit both of us.

Paphos is a bit tired and seedy with too many overpriced restaurants a bit like an upmarket Southend.

There is allot of property development aimed at the British market on the outskirts of Paphos but perhaps consider what has happened in Spain if you are looking to buy!

Coral Bay is nice the beach there looks clean. The local bus service is very good and cheap 80 cents whichever direction you go to. There seems to be a free bus service to the bird park. There is a water park in Paphos which is £15 cyp each but on top you have to buy food and drinks and pay for lockers which can add up.

We had a relaxing time however we were glad we were only staying for a week. Even I felt I was on the young side.

I have just come back from Queens Bay Hotel and found it to be excellent.

The accommodation is spacious and very clean.

The food was a buffet style and was plentiful and hot. The wine is very good and the meals are taken outside in the evenings. The waiters serving the drinks were also very good with an excellent first class service.

If you are looking for a very quiet stay at a nice hotel then this is the one for you. It is situated right next door to the Pafian Sun Village.

You can travel anywhere on the public transport service for 80 cents and is very good value. Only 10 minutes on a bus to Coral Bay and 20 minutes to Paphos.

Very small cove at rear of hotel but good for a quick swim to cool off.

I thought that QBH was an amazing place to be, and I enjoyed every minute of my holiday.

I went with my parents and met a good group of mates out there. There was always something to do out there, and I never got bored.

It was the best holiday I've been on. To make it even better, we are going back this year in April for my birthday. I can’t wait for the date to come round.

The staff were very pleasant, and were always there if you needed any help, which was great.

I would recommend this holiday to anyone, especially families with children.

There is always something to do, and you are so close to all the beaches. I would have said that this hotel was 5 star, as I was gobsmcked when I got there, and noticed how posh it was.

Top dog!

It was the first time we had been away for Xmas and to be fair, we were a bit apprehensive.

We wanted a change for from the usual Xmas ritual at home and all the fuss and running about before so we decided to give it a go, QBH was recommended to us by a friend who had been to the hotel before.

On arrival we were very impressed with the location of the hotel and with the Xmas decoration as well, even coming from the airport, Paphos was very nicely decorated we thought things are going well.

The hotel to begin was quiet not too many people around and we were a little worried as we thought is this gong to be too quiet? Then a couple of days before we noticed the hotel getting more busy, so panic over.

We had booked direct with the hotel again on recommendation from our friends, it was very easy and as part of the package Xmas Eve Gala dinner was included. This evening was excellent, well organized, not too formal it was relaxed, and dress code was smart casual.

The evening started upstairs in the bar with a bit of audience participation in some carol singing, which was a nice touch. There was a very nice festive atmosphere, which we were delighted with and in all we had a lovely time.

The food for the Gala dinner was excellent also it was a combination of waiter service and buffet but it included everything from the usual turkey roast to other dishes great variety.

Plus not forgetting the entertainment all night everything took place down on the restaurant, this was good too.

I think the highlight for us was Xmas Day, this we paid extra for as its an extra event in the hotel as we learned, we couldn’t believe the price though only 12 cyp each! And again we were not disappointed, we did the usual comparing prices to the UK and value for money and again we were not disappointed.

The restaurant was packed but over done, wonderful atmosphere again, with a lot of local British people and Cypriots as we got speaking to people on our table, so if the locals support it, then it must be good.

Again food wise it was a full carvary including turkey plus the buffet had wonderful variation not forgetting finishing with the typical English pud.

Upstairs in the bar after lunch we couldn’t believe the amount of people who stayed for the quiz and bingo we would have loved to have stayed but we decided to go and rest after over indulging.

In all we had a wonderful Xmas and after doing it once, we will for sure do it again in comparison to what you pay in the UK and the hassle of everything.

This was a pleasure to sit back and have everything done for you and at such a high standard. Who knows we may give the summer a try yet?
