Davvi Arctic Lodge

We were on the same trip as 'mandydogsy' who has written the review below, which pretty much sums up the hotel - thoroughly enjoyed not least due to the setting and staff. Then add in the trips they organised from the hotel; reindeers, snowshoe expedition, saami tents, snowmobiles and the unforgettable huskies (incidentally, it may be because we were there at a quieter time, but that ran OK - contrary to earlier review). A memorable place.

We have just come back from a Transun short break in the Davvi hotel travelling ex Leeds. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin which was basic, the furniture could do with being updated but it was warm and comfortable. Our one big complaint was the food. Overcooked tagliatelle (stodge),Shepherds pie which was made of diced ham and smash, Meatballs with so much salt in the sauce that they were inedible, Chicken and sliced potatoes fried together with a bucket load of dried herbs. I've just come back from a trip to the Davvi hotel with my wife and 2 (almost) year old son. We had a wonderful time; lovely place, scenery, activities, etc. Naturally with a place like this, you're constrained by the search for Santa and snow-flavoured activities. These were all put on to a high standard. The accomodation was good but not perfect. Sizes of chalets were a bit small and rather basic, however after a hard day in the snow, a bed, warmth and a reasonable level of comfort is all you need. Food was good and... more
