Holiday Inn Cagliari

We stayed here only for one night and from outside the hotel does not look too good but inside is a very different story, the decor is very tasteful and modern. Our room was modern, spacious, well equipped and very very comfortable. As we arrived late we had a snack at the bar which was nice and the bar service was very good. Breakfast the next morning was excellent although I did not fined the waiter very friendly. But in all this was an excellent hotel near to all the shopping complexes and only 10 minutes in to the city centre.

We stayed for a night after the day shopping in Cagliari, loved this town and the beautiful 15 kms of sandy beach makes for a lovely stroll at sunset. Liked this hotel, its new and the rooms have all the comforts if not a bit small. But for 1 or 2 nights its perfect. 2 things negative points, firstly we were woken up by the maid knocking on our door at 8am checking to see if she could clean the room. My wife and I have just spent 2 weeks holiday at the hotel and overal were very pleased with it. The place is very clean, the stafff were most freindly and apart from the room maids all other staff spoke good English and were considerate On the flip side - as others have pointed out - the location is naff, it is neither near the beach nor the town centre and is situated in what amounts to an industrial zone. Since we got it for a very cheap price (45 Euro for a double room), we were willing to take almost any disadvantage. This hotel is pretty difficult to reach. Although there are two buses going out there, you still have to walk at least a 3/4 to 1 mile from the bus station along an ugly road and through an industrial area with barking dogs behind fences to the hotel located on a triangle between two freeways and a broad road. Stayed here for 16 nights ,chose it as it was 10 minutes from Elmas Airport and close to main roads.Hotel opened last year and we had known this when booking .Had a small amount of holiday makers and a mix of airline crew and business people.Had a small pool but I never went to it but it looked nice and clean also an outdoor covered area was being constructed while we were there.As we had a hire car the underground carpark was ideal with direct access to rooms so we never had to go through reception {good after a beach day}.Rooms were... more

A very new and comfortable Hotel. The foyer was nice and open with a friendly atmosphere. The Service at the Bar was a bit slow, but this may have been because it had not long opened. What was of great use, was the free internet access. The Hotel also had a swimming pool, but I did not see anybody use it, may have been a little cool for that. This new hotel was excellent to stay at! The rooms were very clean and tidy, the bathroom was excellent, with a wonderful shower! Staff were generally friendly and spoke several languages. Restaurant very empty, on most occasions, although I had been told by reception that the hotel was fully booked for my duration of 4 days. After a few days at Villasimius Cala Caterina resort (see separate review on this site,) it felt GREAT to stay at this Holiday Inn. Brand new, beautifully appointed, many amenities...but near a freeway??? For us, it was actually perfect, since we only checked in to stay close to Elmas Airport in Cagliari. We had such an early flight that a 1.5 hour ride from Villasimius in the middle of the night would be downright dangerous on those mountain roads. We were give a very nice double room for 113 Euro. Upon arrival from the airport (which cost 13 euros by taxi), it became obvious that the hotel was very new, as stated in the website. The rooms were very clean and tidy and the bathrooms all brand new and en-suite. Staff were generally friendly and spoke several languages. We have used the Holiday Inn chain of hotels throughout Europe and North America and have found them, almost without fail, to be excellent and so it was with lots of confidence that we signed up to another stay this time in Sardinia. On the hotel website it was quoted as 2 minutes from the airport and c5km from the city centre. This, in a large city, did not surprise us as Holiday Inn often find good positions for their hotels despite not being right in the city centre.
