Hotel el Jebel

Myself and my partner spent 4 nights in this place just off the square in Taormina and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing, romantic stay in the lap of luxury. From the moment we arrived Antonio looked after our every need, which local restaurants to go to, what wines to try ( even sent us to a vineyard !) and what attractions were a must see ... My wife and I just returned from our Sicily trip and we had the pleasure of staying at El Jebel for 4 nghts. WOW! An amazing hotel with amazing staff. It is about 25 steps up off of the main shoppong street that gives it a peaceful place of its own. This location also makes getting around very easy since you are within walking distance to everything, so you don't have to wait for a bus to drive you down into town. Bonus! We booked 5 nights here but because of volcanic ash, got stuck for a further 4 nights. The location is great, although don't try to drive up to the hotel - not possible. You can park in the Porte Catania public car park and the hotel will give you a voucher for a discount on the standard parking charges each time you need to take the car out. Food was fantastic. I went to this hotel to relax after a meeting in Catania. It was the appropriate choice. The comfort of the suite, the atmosphere, the kindness of the people were all outstanding.

Our trip to Sicily this time started very badly. The original ("luxury") apartment in between Taormina and Catania turned out to be a nightmare of noise and grime. Imagine then arriving in Taormina and finding this little gem. This is a new 5 star(L) boutique hotel set bang in the middle of the town. Newly opened so everything appeared fresh. Excellent location and views of Etna from the terrace. Small number of suites only, so high quality. Rooms were well specced and Service was attentive and nothing was too much trouble although inconsitent at times. In november the occupancy was very low so restaurant was quiet - no atmosphere. Many of the services such as spa and private beach etc were either not qute ready or inoperational therefore not available - not clear on their website when booking and only found out one we got there. El Jebel truly is everything it claims to be - a 5 star luxury hotel with possibly the friendliest staff ever encountered. The rooms are beautiful, with every luxury item catered for. The staff are so accommodating and friendly. They make everyone feels so important. The food is mouthwatering and first class. Taormina is an extremely beautiful town and that is a must to see. We arrived at Taormina after a week of travelling around sicily! A very helpful El Jebel employee picked us up from the parking and walked us to the hotel, First impression was great little hotel, the reception was tastefully decorated and Antonio and Maria were very professional, helpful and kind. Upon my first trip to Taormina and Sicily, I was uncertain about which hotel to chose. Taormina has a wide range of hotels to chose from, making it quite difficult for someone who has not been there. I was looking for a 4/5 star hotel and after a lot of search I found 5 star El Jebel. However, since the hotel is brand new (opened in spring 2009), there were few reviews on trip advisor. What a hotel! The staff is very helpful, the location perfect, the food is better than excellent . We had a lovely large room with view of the ocean. If I ever get the chance to return to Taormina, this is the only hotel I would go to!
