A central hotel /clean linen /a 3 x rather than a four star. Pay extra for a top floor room with great views over the town and marina. or ask for a six floor room with a sea view. was 21 euros taxi from the airport after ryan air flight bit pricey for 9 km this got us into town very quick so we could get out. but you can get the bus back to the airport (200 yards accross from the park next to the hotel )to connect with your return for 0,70 euros.(buy from tabac shop)but if travelling on a sunday buy your ticket on saturday as alhegro... more

This hotel is well situated in the town. It has some great views out over the town. The hotel is clean. Tthe rooms are fairly large, clean and modern. The bathrooms are nice. A simple continental breakfast is included. Unlike some of the other reviews, we had no problems with theft, and found the reception staff to be very friendly and helpful.

We stayed for 4 nights. Excellent location just 15mins from the airport, and only 5 mins walk to the ols walled city with great shops and restaurants. Staff very pleasant. Rating mainly for excellent views from the 8th floor where we had a junior suite. A very good choice as there were panoramic views of the harbour and old town fron the large balcony (ensure you book a harbour view). Lovely to watch the sunset from the balcony while enjoying a glass of excellent Sard wine. Rated highly for the views but would not be so good... more

Don't stay here if you value your property. We were robbed - all money and credit cards taken, from our locked room. It was a quiet Sunday, with no maid service, so it had to be an inside job with Reception staff.

Stayed 4 nights at the Catalunya June14-18, having been unable to get in at the Angedras our first choice, having stayed there before. On arrival check in was prompt but only showed where the lift was and offered no help with our luggage. This was typical of service throughout, being adequate but not really personal and friendly.Room on the sixth floor was fine with a decent view. Really missed not having a balcony to relax on. Stayed at the Hotel Catalunya for three nights in October 2004. Price was excellent with Octopus Travel and included breakfast at £185 euros for a double room for 3 nights. Location of the hotel is excellent, just back from the harbour and 5 mins walk to the Old Town where most of the restaurants and shops are to be found, with a park in front. Hotel has a garage underneath with free parking and is easy to find because of it's bright colours. Inside the atmosphere is functional. The staff are courteous but not friendly.... more

Booked and paid a deposit but had to cancel TWO WEEKS prior to arrival, they took my deposit which was one nights stay, not impressed .

Spent 7 nights at the Catalunya in one of their 8th floor suites. Flights: Perhaps one of Ryan Air's best locations. Hotel: average staff, but the views from the balcony and perfect location make this one of the best stays in Alghero. 7 nights for the price of 6 if you book direct. car hire: a must of you are staying for more than a short break, AVIS Piazza Sulis had a great deal if pre-booked, paid €90 for three days hire. I did not find all of the staff here to be friendly (only one very nice man at the desk) or the rooms to be very nice for the price that I was charged. The breakfast didn't live up to what you would expect from a four star hotel either. There are much nicer hotels for the money in this area.

This is a good hotel. If you can get a room on the 5th or 6th floors you can see over to the old town, the marina, capo caccia as well as the park just outside the hotel. The sunsets can be spectacular. It seems to be quite popular with business for conferences, so try to book as early as possible. The location is good as it is literally a 5 minute walk (if that) from the old town and all it's restaurants. There is a restaurant on the top floor, but I gather it is only open during the high season (July/August). Since we've left it too late... more
