Excellent Location-Not quite 4 star!
from venividimore
We stayed at this hotel from May 19 to 24th, 2010 for our 20th wedding anniversary. We loved the location, very convenient, right next to San Stae vaporetto stop, and we loved the neighborhood with some very nice restaurants. As far as the hotel, it is clean, modern but not quite 4 star compared to similar hotels we've stayed in all over the world. Our room, 205, was nice with a nice view of the church of San Stae and partially of the Grand Canal, but there were some issues: there were no bathrobes or slippers as advertised when...

Expensive, unfriendly service
from Italy_romance
We were delighted to find the beautiful hotel after a long travel to Europe. Unfortunately we were given the room on the mezzanine level, before the main entrance to the other rooms. Although beautiful, we found the staff rude and unfriendly. Definitely not welcoming. At more than EUR200 per night, I do believe one could find a better stay.
Great location terrible breakfast
from serious180
This is a beautiful new hotel, a refurbished palazzo, in a great location on the Grand Canal a short way away from the hustle and bustle of St Marc's Square. Local restaurants are full of character and local people which is always a good sign. The reception staff were very pleasant but oh dear the breakfast staff let them down. The breakfast was named an American breakfast as nothing could be further from the truth. There were three juices available but none were orange juice. There were no eggs just cheap ham and cheese slices. The...

Wonderful surprise
from Talumb
I booked this hotel with only 6 reviews to base my decision and was not disappointed. The hotel has its own dock so we were delivered by our water taxi on the hotel's doorstep, this is quite a plus in Venice. We had room 101 and thought the sizer of the room was good. We overlooked the courtyard which was nice. As others have stated it was a very quiet spot. The bathroom was updates but I think this may have been a room for handicap people as there was no shower curtain and there was a shower chair, this was the only downside as it was...

Loved the staff!
from ypetriz
We arrived here for our third and last stop of our honeymoon. As soon as Pier Luca, at the front desk, found out it was our honeymoon he scrambled to find us a better room than we had originally booked. The rooms are kind of small but beautiful and ours had some really cool arched windows. The entrance to the hotel is thru a tiny alley but once you step into the courtyard it is gorgeous. The hotel was really nice but what made it into a great experience for us was the super nice staff. Specially Pier Luca and Jacopo. Thanks guys!
A new impressive hotel with great personality
from kendall
The Palazzo Giovanelli was the second hotel we visited on our 19th trip to Venice.. Since it had just opened, there were no reviews to go by, so we took a chance, mainly because it was an ancient palazzo on the Grand Canal, and the photos on Tripadvisor looked wonderful. We reserved the Presidential Suite for three days, as the photos looked incredible. We were not disappointed. The hotel was obviously just adjusting, but ran smoothly under the direction of a very personable manager, Domineco Fort. His joyful manner seemed to...

Beautiful hotel in quiet but convenient location
from CarJonLondon
We spent three nights at Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli and were delighted with our stay. Our room was not huge, but well set out, gorgeously decorated and with a fabulous view of the Grand Canal. Storage space was fairly limited - fine if you are only staying 2-3 days, which is probably average. The bathroom was excellent - a good size, brand new and sparklingly clean. It seems a little odd to say the hotel is in a quiet location when it is overlooking the Grand Canal. However, the surrounding area is fairly residential and very quiet in...

Respectfully restored palazzo on the Grand Canal
from noelgeel
The Palazzo Giovanelli is just a few steps from a stop on the motor bus between the railway station and Piazza San Marco. It is ideally situated for both walking and river trips, yet very quiet. The building has been beautifully restored (our rooms had the original sculpted ceilings) and tastfully decorated, combining the original style of the building with design furniture and lighting. Public spaces are impressive. Rooms and bath rooms were among the finest. Staff made you feel really welcome. Higly recommended.
A Dream come true
from AlysAngus
My husband and I went to Venice as part of a Railbooker's holiday. We were to fly to Venice, spend two nights there, then take the train to Rome, two nights there before flying back to London. The cost of the trip was extremely reasonable and we did not expect much - a clean room, hot water and, we hoped, good coffee in the mornings. The hotel Palazzo Giovanelli more than exceeded our expectations. First of all, it had been a genuine Venetian palace. It's right on the Grand Canal, just a few steps from the 'water bus' stop at San...

Fantastic holiday in brilliant hotel in the heart of romantic Venice
from VitaliyS
My wife and I just returned from 3 day trip to fantastic Venice. We stayed in Palazzo Giovanelli hotel for two nights (from March 16 till 18 2010) and it was magnificent. This trip was my gift for the wife for International Women Day which we celebrate in Ukraine in early March, thus I’ve been searching for very special hotel and also very special room and I found such in this gorgeous palazzo – their Presidential Suite (or Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart suite – as a tribute to the famous composer who lived in this building during one f the...
