Rivamare Hotel

This was my husband and my first trip to Italy. We could have not picked a more perfect place and location!! In fact, this was our favorite place we stayed in Italy during our 2 weeks. We loved Lido and great access to the beach. We caught the bus to the vaporetta area which then took us to Venice. Very nice and short water bus ride to Venice. Everyone at Hotel Rivamare made us feel very welcome and they definitely made us feel at home. We stayed on the Lido because it was cheaper and also we wanted to use the beach if it was warm enough (it was). The beach was opposite the hotel and whilst not the best sand, was OK for a copule of hours of R&R after a day on venice island before the evening's jolly. The hotel is five minutes from the vaporetto station by bus which run very frequently (walk around the corner to the road which runs parallel to the beach road as they are more frequent). My family stayed here in May 2007.Having done a quick tour of Italy I felt the hotel was average- rooms smallish with a lot of 70s furniture.Breakfast was just so so. We were lucky that the weather was good and feeling the room was stuffy one evening I asked for the control of the air con and was told " not until June" even though this is advertised as one of the facilites one pays for. We stayed here for 3 nights and had a great time. The rooms are clean, bathroom very modern. Having been in Venice all day, nice to get back and have a hour or two on the beach. Would stay there again no problem.

We were recommended to go to Lido by a family we met at Marco Polo Airport after an anniversary trip to Venice. If you are going as a couple you would probably prefer to be in the centre of Venice, but with children staying in Lido saves quite a bit of money. The hotels are cheaper and the restaurants are cheaper and friendlier, and St Marks Square is only two stops on the vaporetto. We have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Hotel Rivamare. The hotel was reached easily from Lido jetty by taxi costing about 10 euros or by catching the V bus costing 1 euro, we opted for the cheaper option as it is only a 3 minute bus ride away, to walk takes around 15 minutes. We paid 25 euros each for 72 hours travel which allows you to use the vaperetto and buses and you can also explore the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello on this ticket. This hostel was very clean and quiet, however did not offer some of the items listed on many websites. For example, there was NO hair dryer, telephone or TV in our room. Our room was very small but was nice in that it did have a sink and mirror in our room so that we did not have to go all the way down the hall to brush our teeth, etc. Also, there is a mini bar in the lobby with signs for coffee/expresso but when we asked for it they did not offer it. Many of the little shops close early so it is best to eat in Venice.....

This is a great budget hotel, rooms are very adequate no tea or coffee facilites though, the bathroom has a power shower with constant hot water plenty of towels etc., and all very clean, and breakfast was continental with ham salami hard boiled eggs etc., cannot really find too many faults, if you stayed during the summer months it would be ideal a stones throw from the beach which would make a welcome break from the husstle and bussle of Venice, unfortunately in the autumn when we went, it was extremely quiet we couldnt find any... more

I stayed here one night before and one night after a cruise, and I agree with the points made by the previous reviewer. A friendly, comfortable, family-run 2 star, which I got a very fair price for by Venice standards. Effective air conditioning, which I needed! Some traffic noise until window closed (I had rooms 25 and 35 at front above road with sea view). Lots of choice for breakfast in pleasant room or garden. Reasonably priced drinks from bar. Hotel Rivamare, Venice Lido 9th-11th June 2005 inclusive. I stayed at this hotel for three nights prior to a cruise departing from Venice on 12th June (MSC Armonia). I had a single room, first floor front which was perfectly comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower room was excellent and there was constant hot water, soap and shampoo are provided and there are ample towels.
