Locanda Canal

This hotel is very quaint, accommodations are lovely; bathrooms are tiny. It is a quick walk from St. Marks and Rialto. The bed was somewhat hard, but room was clean and comfortable. It is a bit difficult to find, so make sure you get good directions. The hotel is located on a canal, but we had a view of a brick wall, although we didn't really care. We have just returned from two weeks in Italy, fantastic country and one of the bed experience was advice from budget hotel in Let's Go guide. The price as per recomendation 70-80 euro, but the final bill came up to 170 euro per night. Big dissapointment for this money and service.

I stayed at the Hotel Locanda Canal for three nights in July of this year 2005 (25 to 27th) and it was by far, one of, if not, the best hotel I had stayed in in all my two months of travelling through europe. The rooms were immaculate, the service was first-class and the location was superb! About 80metres from St Mark's Piazza!! The service is personal and immediate while not being too in-your-face. Very nice stay!!! The owner and the staff are very helpful, clean room and great buffet breakfast. The room was spacious and well equipped but with not a super view. See you soon!!!

Very nice place to stay in Venice! The room was spacious and larger than expected and the location was perfect, very close to St. Marks's square. Staff was very helpful and pleasant and and breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend the hotel Locanda Canal.

Wonderful location but it is quite hard to find and you need to ask a friendly local for directions. The room was clean and confortable, decorated and furnished with all fittings of the highest quality, great bathroom and the staff was very helpful. Highly recommended. We'd certainly stay there again.

Beautiful building, BUT, the management switched us from our original reservation (at Casa Pisani Canal) without notifying us. We showed up at Casa Pisani Canal--rang the bell, knocked on the door--no one answered. Luckily, the front desk attendant showed up with another couple about 5 minutes later and informed us that we would be staying at Locanda Canal. Granted, Locanda is a better location, but it is not the place we reserved. Beds were hard as rocks. A "Triple" means a camping cot for the third person. One of the smallest showers... more

Hotel Locanda Canal Venice Plus points - nice setting along a canal and quite central. Minus - Tiny rooms ( nothing like as sumptious as pictured on their website). Satellite TV advertised but not available. Dishonest pricing policy. When we asked for the tree day discount of 10% as advertised for May on the web, they claimed we had already been given the discounted rate when we booked 2 months earlier. No proof like a printed pricelist could be produced! Breakfast buffet very poor. Could't recommend it.

My husband and I made reservations to stay at Casa Pisani Canal, when I e-mail then asking for directions they sent me back the directions to Locanda Canal. I sent a sencond e-mail requesting the right directions since we had a print out with the confirmed reservations for such a hotel. They did send the directions for Casa Pisani. However, when we arrived in Venice at around 9PM and begun looking for the hotel for about 40 minutes and finally found it (you do get lost in Venice!!) my wife and i regularly go to venice and stayed there in a room without bathroom for 2 days. bed o.k., breakfast o.k., room rate - in comparison with other hotels in venice - o.k., room rather dark, no view, but clean. two unpleasant surprises: 1. for those with a room without bathroom, a warm shower is only available from 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. and for a fee of 2,60 EUR (which is not mentioned in the hotel information, so you expect free use of the bathroom). 2. we made reservations for 4 nights, but could only stay for two. <br... more
