Hotel Tiziano

Hotel Tiziano in Venice gets a 5 among moderately priced hotels in Italy. It has been renovated recently with lots of modern touches, yet it still has tons of old world charm. The staff is wonderful, and went out of their way to help us feel at home.

Our only complaint about this hotel is that it is not easy to find unless you know your way around Venice. For new travelers, you need to walk about 10min from the Piazzale Roma vaporetto stop - make sure you have a map. Once we found it (the night desk girl actually walked to a common area and met us so we'd find our way A+++), we enjoyed absolutely everything.

The Hotel Tiziano was just what we wanted: quiet, quaint, boutique-style, and in a convenient but less-touristy area. Our room was lovely with very nice fabrics, furnishings, and a beautiful wooden-beamed ceiling. Our window had a view onto a small canal, too! The neighborhood of Dorsoduro was very appealing and convenient for casual exploration on-foot and by vaporetto.

My sister and I stayed at this hotel for 3 night earlier this month. We took the bus from the train station and got off at San Marta. If you do this, just come up the ramp and walk between the buildings, keeping to your left. It is located in the area of a college and a church. (forgot the names). The hotel is small but beautiful. The biggest drawback for me was the lack of an elevator. ( My luggage was heavy, but the receptionist helped me) Our room was on the second floor When we arrived at about noon we could smell the cakes and rolls baking - Heavenly! The spotless, white marble steps were lovely and the doors to each room were named and had this charming design on them. Our room was lovely and quaint with an armoire that locked ( the skeleton key had a large tassle attached). The design of the room was romantic Italian. The flat panel, LCD televison was satelite, mostly German dubbed American movies and television programs were showing. There was a small fridge under the desk that looks like part of the furniture. It contained beer, soda, bottle opener and chilled glasses. The bathroom had plenty of thick, turkish towels. High beamed ceilings with crystal light covers. This would be a perfect place for a weekend getaway for lovers. There are 2 fantastic restaurants literally around the corner and a pizzeria also. The hotel is a great deal!

Minus:

I can only find one negative thing about Tiziano and that is the pricing. Location seems to be the thing you pay for since the standard rooms are are quite simple and a bit worn. Our bathroom was very nice though. If you just look at the standard rooms I would rate Tiziano as ***. The Supreme rooms are amazing...but they cost 300 Euros/night.

If you have the cash then it's highly recomended!!

We found the Tiziano through Tripadvisor and the reviews were spot on. This hotel was a little off the beaten track but convenient for us as we arrived via the ferry from Croatia at San Basilio. If you're not afraid of a bit of walking then there is no reason not to stay here. We soon found our way around, and it wasn't far to the water taxis on San Basilio, Accademia or St. Marta. (We would advise anyone to purchase the visitor pass for the waterbus - it works out much quicker and cheaper, we were hopping on and off all the time, its a good way to see lots of Venice.)

We had a ground floor room which was spotless and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and there was plenty of choice. We found it very quiet after 11.00pm. The staff were very helpful and our luggage was stored for us after check out until we had go to the airport.

Of the two hotels we used in Venice, this was much the better deal.

Hotel was clean. Rooms were quite basic, but adequate. Not very child friendly. In quite a nice area, although not near the main tourist sites, but it is sometimes nice to see the other side of Venice. Some staff were friendly, others were certainly , less than friendly. Rooms were quite noisey, but this may be that it was a very old building, so you could here people in other rooms.

Personally, for the amount we paid, we were expecting a little more. Most of the hotels, this far away from the sites, offer better facilities or better prices.

This hotel is away from the tourist trail giving visitors a chance to see a more authentic side of Venice in the Dorsoduro district. The hotel was extremely clean, the rooms were of a very high standard with marble floors, shuttered windows and satellite TV (although this was mainly catering for German guests), the staff are helpful and friendly and the breakfast was good. The area the hotel is in is quiet and peaceful and a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle, around 20 mins walk from St. Marks Square. I will definately be staying here next time i visit Venice!

My girlfriend and I stayed here between 20th and 22nd December 2004. It is a great hotel and we can't recommend it enough. Throughly helpful staff, great service and high quality rooms. Appreciated it is a little outside San Marco, but it is still no more than 15 mins walk, and ideally located for attractions such as Peggy's museum. Its approx 10 min walk from Pizzale Roma and no more than 5 min walk from San Basilo water-bus stop. Its a great hotel and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Would also recommend Aquarama restuarant which is just along from San Basilo, great decor, service and very reasonable.
