Comments:  Just returned from a week's holiday with my twins. A brilliant and a safe hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Excursions booked by the hotel were reasonable as compared to others. Room was very spacious and clean, the children loved the pool. Food was unfortunately not very good and drinks were quite expensive. On the whole we have had a great holiday. The hotel should definitely be a 4*.

Comments:  Just returned to rainy Britain after a fab two weeks with the guys at Mercure Luna and god willing we will be back by the end of the year.

Temperatures were between 40 and 50 so not too much sunbathing going on - too hot - try October - March as certainly hot enough by the brits standards

Very friendly, always there to assist in any way they can so never feel you can't ask for anything and certainly never be offended if they seem to be giving you too much attention, I can assure you this is NOT for tips - only ever good hospitality and to ensure your holiday is the best it can be. They themselves would be offended if they thought their attention was too much.

Rooms are basic but have plenty space (even if lacking in hangers :) ) , cleaned everyday to a very high standard.

Being a fussy eater was worried about living on bread rolls for a fortnight but they were even able to ensure I didn’t' starve! and the chefs - well nothing is a bother to them.

staff were great and given it was very quiet we were spoilt really.

They even took us out to see some belly dancing, came to look for us in the Old Market to ensure we were safe, ensured we knew exactly which football team we should be supporting when the match was on :)

Diving Centre at hotel - brilliant guys, Ahmed the guy who can take you out on dives is fantastic and for 21 believe me he knows his stuff. Husband did his PADI whilst there so can now go diving wherever he likes in the world - Thanks Ahmed darling.

Naama Bay - very nice but not my cup of tea - seemed very over priced and was like any Spanish resort.

Old Market - much more authentic and for all the fore warning of hassle they weren't too bad at all and soon got the message when La (no) was said.

Did the Cairo trip and like a lot of others did not book through travel reps as far too expensive - go to the local places as much cheaper. Only eight of us in car for our group so was brill and much better than the 40 thousand crammed on a bus.

Mr Ahmed the manager of Mercure Luna is a great guy, the team love him and that is the point of this place - TEAM - all working together, all helping each other so even if their 12 hour shift is finished they will still help each other if required.

These guys work for 3-4 weeks solid then have a week to 10 days off to bus (7 -10 hour trip) back to Cairo and/or surrounding areas to see their own families so don't be too hard on them if they don't smile at you one day.

Overall - just enjoy yourself and always remember it isn't Britain so don't expect the same and don't moan if the food isn’t' what you expect or the water in room isn't flowing wonderfully or the sun is too hot! as you chose to go there.

Comments:  Just like to say that I have stayed at this hotel for the last 3 years and absolutely love it. I have just come back in October and I am already planning to book for March.

The rooms are spacious and always clean with decorations in the room every day. The staff are always helpful and friendly (sometimes they are a bit quiet, but you have to bare in mind they work 12 hour shifts).

Just wanted to share some information about the surrounding area and what is available.

There is a lovely restaurant (reef restaurant) next door which belongs to the Ocean Club hotel which you are welcome to go in any time. The food is nice and very cheap.

They also have an Egyptian style restaurant upstairs (which I didn't find). Most hotels allow you to use their restaurants and bars without charging as you are spending money there.

There is a little cafe over the road from the hotel called the station which does beautiful sandwiches, salads, pizza, cakes etc. It’s a bit like subway. All the food is very fresh and the place is very clean.

Next door to the Station is a little supermarket where you can buy your water very cheap.

If you go out of the hotel and turn right and walk down the road for about 15 mins there is a Dolphin Show (Dolphinella) on your left. It’s on every day around 3pm and is cheaper to pay on the door than to go with your rep.

Just past Dolphinella about 10mins further is a place called Fantasia. If you go on a Tuesday evening. They do a meal, light show and belly dancing show for around £18. Well worth a visit. There are also shops, bars and eateries here if you don't have the meal and just see the show.

Naama bay is about 10 mins in a taxi and doesn't cost more than 25 Egyptian pounds (£2.50) where there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. I had the best Chinese meal ever in a place called Dragonera. The Camel Bar and Tavern Bar are always a favourite with the English.

Old Sharm again this is about 5 mins in a taxi from the hotel. Shop prices here are much cheaper than Naama bay but remember to haggle. There is a lovely restaurant there called the Fisherman (if you can find it) me and my mum got a starter, main meal and a drink each for £6.70.

Right enough from me. If you do go here I hope you enjoy your stay as much as I do.

Comments:  The rooms of the hotel were clean and spacious. It was a pity that there were no restaurants nearby as the food in the hotel was abominable and expensive. Not only that, but the service in the restaurant was very poor and the atmosphere very oppressive. The waiter sheriff in particular was miserable and appeared uninterested in the work he was doing.

Beware of using the internet there - the receptionist, Wael tried to fob us off with a card which had been used, i.e. the covering for the code on the back of the card had already been rubbed off.

Apart from the above, the rooms were OK and the location was peaceful.

Comments:  Very good hotel, clean and the rooms are big rooms with satellite TV, mini fridge, big double bed and clean sheets and towels. Very helpful staff.

The only disappointment was the breakfast and the location was little bit far from naama bay and old town.

No restaurants nearby

Comments:  Perfect holiday base in Sharm - not too far from Naama bay (10mins on shuttle bus) - not too far from an amazing beach (5 mins on shuttle bus or a 15mins walk).

Hotel ultra friendly and very, very clean, they make a real fuss of you and our cleaner was v thorough, changed sheets daily, mopped the floor daily and left us amusing and arty flower arrangements on the bed! The gardens are lovely, flowers everywhere and the pool setting is very quiet, not overcrowded. Loads of space on the beach, sun bed guaranteed!

We had the B&B option and it was perfectly acceptable - buffet with wide choice - we also I have to admit ordered a lot of rooms service, it cost you 20p a time and for £2 you got a whole stack of cheese toasties and salad delivered in less than 20 mins! Selection of room service very good. A lot of Brits who spent a lot of time outside drinking in the eves complained about the mozzies and had lots of bites - but both myself and my partner didn’t get a single bite! In the eves we took the shuttle bus to Naama bay it costs a £1 return and well worthwhile as you can wander the streets and sample the wares - even in Naama its cheap I paid no more than £4 for a cheeseburger in the hard rock cafe!

During our stay it was my partners birthday and they did her a special cake and made a real fuss of her and it capped a perfect holiday. They absolutely love children - really nice safe friendly atmosphere for them, were going back in October.

Ps we found the best trips were the Bedouin night/camel ride if you want to learn about the culture and if you want to try snorkeling the lazy day boat trip is incredible! but pack your own snorkel and mask as the ones we used weren’t much cop!

Comments:  My best mate and I got back from Egypt on 02/04/06. By 07/04/06 we had booked to go back to the same place. Mercure Luna is such a fantastic place to stay!

As soon as you set foot in the hotel it is like you are with good friends, the staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you. They are always smiling and joking with you and nothing is ever too much trouble. I needed some stamps and the guy that has a little shop there closed his business for half an hour to go and get me some, and let me have them for free!

Because of the brilliant atmosphere you will find that you become friends with other guests quickly, which is always fun if you want to go to Naama in the evenings as a group!

Overall the hotel could not be beaten for value for money, cleanliness and friendliness, a totally brilliant time- can't wait to go back!

Comments:  A great holiday was had by my wife and i, the hotel was rated as a three star but i would credit as a four, the staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you.
The food was ample and there was nothing to turn your nose up at, with a great variation each day.

They supplied a shuttle bus to a sister hotel for the use of a beach and a bus to and from the town of Naama bay, as we just outside so we had the choice of the quiet or lively. taxi are every where and all at a good price but you most negotiate the price before you get in or set off.

Beware the money it is very old and very dirty it passes hands very quickly and is a major cause of upset stomachs so you need to wash your hands often while dealing with the money.

One thing I wish I had known before hand was that the trips Thomson offer when your there are less than half the price when booked locally, for example there is a glass bottom boat trip with Thompson at £30 per person which lasts about 1hr but booked at the jetty on the day you can get a 2hr trip on a different boat for £5 per person.

So you should double check the offers and plan your trips toward the end of your stay, one good thing with the hotel if you have an evening trip you can have your lunch in place of your evening meal. so to sum up is easy we are going back again this year.

Comments:  Just got back from 2week break with a mate. Had best holiday I have ever had. Great hotel, friendly, clean and always wanting to help. Just on internet trying to get a flight back over in a couple of months.

Sharm El Sheikh is a great place, its nice to be away from tower blocks and people who only speak English.

Comments:  Having just returned from one of the best holiday's ever I have already booked for next year.

The hotel was lovely, the staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
The local shop keepers were amazingly friendly and so genuine.

yes, they will invite you into their shop in the hope that you buy something but they don’t expect you to buy and are fine if you refuse. The local perfume shop across from the hotel ( Forever Black Tiger) was an eye-opener. Thomas and Charlie are famous for their honesty and hospitality.

At a time when business is slow due to the bombings they showed nothing but kindness and expected nothing in return, as did all the shop owners on the parade.

The snorkelling is a must as is a boat trip.
Overall a brilliant holiday.

Comments:  Felt we must write to say that we have only just come back from a weeks stay at the Mercure Luna Sharm and that it was to us a very relaxing holiday.

The rooms were spacious and kept tidy. The pool area was always cleaned down. The staff in the hotel were very helpful and polite. Food in the hotel was excellent although we were only B&B the restaurant was open in the evenings and for £7.50 you were able to have a 3 course buffet meal -

To us this was a great break away and very relaxing.
Snorkelling or scuba diving is a must as we only went snorkelling and that was amazing.

The downside if any was the locals they only mean to be friendly by getting you into their shops but it could be of putting. You just learn to ignore them.
But do not let that put you off from going.

Enjoy like we did and go with the flow.
