Venice Hotel Villa Dori

Venice, Hotel Villa Dori. We stayed at the Hotel Villa Dori for three nights in June 2005 and overall, had a very good experience. There were a couple of minor inconveniences but not enough to detract from our stay. Unfortunately for us the day we arrived the hotel mini bus was out of action so we didn’t get the courtesy pick-up. by no means was it an amazing luxury hotel, but for the price it sure felt like it. beautiful rooms (huge, in comparison to most places we stayed throughout Italy) a wonderful staff and even a dance club downstairs! the only drawbacks were: outside smelled like manure because they were still working on the place when we were there (i'm sure it's done now) and it wasn't in the heart of Venice. but the location didn't matter because there were free daily shuttles & if you missed one of those a bus ride was just as easy. loved it, wonderful,... more

The hotel itself is well decorated and the staff are friendly. However, if you don't have a car in Venice, then you will have to take the bus into the city. There are two options. Either a 10 minute walk followed by a 25 bus ride into The Venice Island (bus number 53), or, you have to take two buses which together take around 30 minutes. We stayed her from 23 to 30 Oct 2004 inclusive. Located in a quiet, safe, residential neighbourhood. Comfortable rooms, nice en suite shower rooms, fridge & safe deposit boxes provided. Free internet access. Excellent prices at ca. E60 per night for double room. . Staff pleasant and efficient. Breakfast good value at E5, but taken in a rather dark bar/nightclub next door. This is a great hotel. Its spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Good size bedroom and bathroom. Our room was cleaned every day. The staff are so helpful and friendly. They put alot of effort into the hotel and making your stay hassle free. The hotel is quite a way out of Venice itself however the staff offer a shuttle service almost anytime of the day or night so this is not a problem. The bar next door is a great place to relax. I would definately recommend this place!

I stayed here for a few days recently in a trip to Venice. The hotel was clean, the room really nice (I took a picture it was so cute) and the staff friendly and helpful. I knew that the hotel was not on the island, however, it was a bit further than I anticipated. The hotel does run shuttles (2 in the morning, 3 at night) for 3 euros. If however, you want to get an earlier start or come/go at other times, you need to take the public buses. This place was more than what I had expected. Very very charming, right outside of Venice in a wonderfully safe neighborhood with easy access and shuttle service to venice, 10 minutes away. We rented a car, so it was the way to go for our trip, free parking at the hotel. In order to see venice properly, you should buy a water bus/ public transit pass which included transportation thoughout venice via water, as well as public transportaion to the hotel. I have stayed at various places during my 2 month trip in Europe, from 10 bed hostels to 4 star hotels. Hotel Villa Dori has been by far the best place for the price. It is a charming little hotel which has the look of Italian renaissance without the dirty appearance of it. We booked ourselves a 3 person room and we had a lovely little balcony, a very very very clean bathroom, a minibar, TV with more than 4 stations (although still in Italian), and a staff that was beyond helpful. Booked this hotel before flying to Italy for the first 2 nights of our stay and loved it so much we rebooked it for the last 2 nights! Ok, its not in Venice itself, but its only 10 minutes from Piazza Roma and Mestre by car, and hotel do pick ups, plus theres a bus from to both Mestre Station and Piazza Roma. The accommodation is lovely, especially for the money your paying. The family who own and run the hotel and their staff are lovely and friendly, really made our holiday. The hotel was very clean and comfy. The rooms were biggger than we expected and the restaurant next door was fun. The staff was eagar to assist us. The hotel is far from the tourist spots in Venice, but the price makes it worth it. You must take the mainland train stop and then call the hotel to have a shuttle pick you up. There is a bus to the hotel from the mainland trian station, but it doesn't run late or on weekends. The hotel is quick about sending someone to get you, so it isn't that big of a deal.
