The Best Little Hotel In Veneto
My friend and I recently stayed at the Vendramin Santa Fosca in Venice and were more than delighted with this charming botique hotel. The room was even more than we expected and the staff saw to our every need. In my opinion, this is "the place to stay " when visiting Venice. It is away from the noise but on a canal, plenty of shopping and eateries near by and a great place to relax after a busy day in Venice. N. Denton USA
Fabulous Honeymoon
From the moment we stepped off the water taxi, the staff of Ca' Vendramin di Santa Fosca made us feel welcome and at home. They provided complimentary champagne and a congratulations card. A plate of fresh fruit was provided every other day. The superior suite was, quite simply, out of this world and the 16th century ceiling fresco sympatheticaly restored to its former glory. The staff were extremely knowledgable about Venice and we spent a good deal of time talking to them. Nothing was too much trouble. Our honeymoon was perfect in every... more
Lovely Hotel
This is a fantastic lovely small hotel in the Cannaregio area in Venice and the service is exceptional. We had a standard Double and whilst not cheap it was a lovely modern air conditioned room on the ground floor. The bathroom was very nice. Breakfast could not be faulted as it was really good. The reception area is great with a nice chandelier and the staff are very capable. There is a free internet on the second floor and one of the thing you notice is the very high ceilings which must 20 feet high. The position... more
Standard Double very overpriced
Just returned from our anniversary long weekend at this hotel. To be honest we had read some earlier reviews and thought the rooms looked great. When we arrived our room was a standard double and very small. It was clean and tidy with a small shower room but not worth the money. There was never any hot water for a shower in the morning and the breakfast was rather poor to say the least. Stayed for three nights and only some hot food on one day. We were going to review the hotel for a daily newspaper and decided not to bother. Be warned the... more
Great Place to Stay in Venice
We can thoroughly recommend this great hotel. We stayed in late May 2006. We have stayed all over the world in 5* hotels but they are generally not the most welcoming of places. This hotel is not brimming with facilities - if you want a pool and an in-hotel restaurant - why would you in Venice as it's littered with great restaurants? - don't go there. However, it is the perfect base for an exploration of Venice and a fantastic spot to rest your weary feet. Situated just off the main thoroughfare it is quiet, small and impeccably run by a... more
good stay
Friendly staff Good location of shopping street Awesome air conditioning. Very important as it was 100F when we visited. We were there on our honeymoon. American style luxury. Hotel is new and rooms are very nice. Free internet PC by no wifi. Need to climb stairs to room. staff carries bags for you. Quiet location. Not a lot of places to eat nearby. Off the beaten path from San Marcos. Reasonable price. We would stay again.
Great Hotel in an ancient noble Palazzo of Venice !! Helpful and lovable staff
I honestly loved everything about this place. The Hotel Cà Vendramin became the engagement hotel, between my girlfriend and I. I went to Venice for the first weekend in June 2006 with my girlfriend, and had a wonderful time. We saw the Rialto Bridge, the Saint Mark Sq and its Basilica, the Palazzo Ducale, the Museuo Correr, the Accademia Gallery, Guggenheim Collection , the art gallery at San Rocco, countless Campiello’s and bridges and calle’s, and many churches, as well as the wonderful shops. We saw all this in two days... more
7 foot by 8 foot room for $275 a rip off
Well, where to start. I booked this hotel because of the web site photos and other visitor reviews which were excellent only to end up in a 7 foot by 8 foot room off the front lobby door for close to $300 a night including taxes. They have 12 photos of rooms on the web site and non of them portray this nightmare. I am sure that the suites are large and nice but that is not what was offered. For $300 a night you have plenty of other 3.5-4 star selections available in Venice. The day manager/woman who greeted us was less than charming (they... more
Management response from FOSCA

Yes, you know our hotel has larger rooms because the woman (not manager) who greeted you at arrival moved you, for the first night, into a spacious Junior Suite with nice canal view without charging any supplementary cost and the same woman would have done more if it had only been possible. Please note that “double” refers to a room occupied by 2 persons. Our property offers Double Standard, Double Junior Suites and Double Suites Superior. The correct distance from the water bus stop to the hotel is 250 meters, down along the large and straight Strada Nuova and there are 3 bridges to across. Don’t forget we are talking about Venice with it’s 400 bridges. Fortunately we are one of those privileged hotel with water access and by private water taxi our guests can conveniently drop off right in front the entrance of our hotel, just a few steps to reach the reception.

not a hotel, an overrated B&B, stay at the Bauer
Let's get things straight, this is not a hotel, it has none of the standard service features of a hotel and it has the rudest receptionist ever to grace a front desk. My husband and I booked a junior suite for my birthday - there were photos of the junior suites on the site and the reviews seemed great. We could have had a standard room in the Bauer for the same price but we thought "a suite in a charming hotel would be better" - how wrong we were. First off we were not in a junior suite but in a standard double room wth the toilet on a... more
Management response from FOSCA

With great surprise we read your review since we never ever heard any of our clients complaining in this way. Allow us to say that you really exaggerate writing that “this is not a hotel ". All this probably just because you personally didn't like that, let's say, special and unique room and you didn't appreciate it's romantic character with a matrimonial bed on the mezzanine of the loft with it's high ceiling and original wooden exposed beams. In the large American bathroom on the lower level you could have enjoyed a relaxing bath in the jacuzzi bathtub tasting a glass of fresh sparkling Italian wine that we offered you for your birthday (Standard rooms do not have jacuzzi). We understand, anyway, that every guest has various specific personal needs and taste and exactly for this reason we would have had to know in advance, at the time of booking, that your preference was only for a room with canal view in order to satisfy your specific request. We are pride to say that all our rooms are bright and have a typical view, not only the ones canalside but also the rooms overlooking the inner courtyard of the Palace or the Venetian rooftops. Please note that, on the contrary of what you stated, not all our Junior Suites have canal view. How can it be that an ancient 16th century palace located in the historical centre of Venice is surrounded by water on all sides?? We feel sorry we had no last minute possibility to assign a room of your taste since the hotel at that time of peak season was fully booked. If only you had given us a chance to express our considerations trying to understand you would have certainly enjoyed your stay and birthday by us

Beautiful relaxing hotel
This is a beautiful tranquil hotel where you receive a very warm reception - the owner and his staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very tastefully decorated and has a canal right outside of it's entrance. We were glad we did not stay in the hustle and bustle of the area around St Marks square because it is so near to everything anyway - just a 2 minute stroll from a Vaporetto station and walking distance from the main attractions. This is definately one hotel I would recommend and return to.
