Calangute Residency

The location of this hotel is excellent, just on the calangute beach. Hospitality is also very good, but we found the hotel staff little slow (or lazier kind). For breakfast/snacks, there is some delhi restaurant just opposite to street and we liked it very much. Lunch/dinner in the Sagar restaurant just opposite is OK, but that is Pureveg.

We had being to Goa between 18th to 21st Sept. It was perfect time to be there - Tourist season was on the verge of starting but only few people hence easy availability of hotels & recreation facilities. We drived directly from Dambolim airport to Calangute Residency by hired car which takes around Rs 480/- for roughly 48kms distance - fair. We stayed in Calangute Residency for 3nights/4 days. Absolutely fantastic location....bang on the beach and in the midst of all activity. Restaurants and shops lined up all along the road. Rooms are great, spacious, comfortable and as we stayed on the sea facing 1st floor room with the great balcony - it was just suppp...erb. Service is just so-so. Cleanliness of rooms is good but lot to be desired otherwise in the rest of the hotel. Don't expect private hotel like courtseys and pampering -it's a govt facilty after all. The hotel is situated right on the Calangute beach. Fabulous location no doubt! We had booked an "AC-Resort room" which had an awesome seafacing balcony. That alone made our trip. After all we go there to enjoy the sea right! It is a govt hotel. The moment we checked in there were some hitches - like phone not working, no water in bathroom, no towels. We had to call them repeatedly and nevertheless - things happened. Housekeeping happened without any issues ... The resturant too has a nice view of the sea . Food is not too... more

I was in Goa from 26 Sep to 01 Oct 09. It was a fantastic trip. Icing on the cake was the hotel accommodation - Calangute Residency. Bang on the beach. View from the room was incredible. The rooms, recently renovated, were luxuriously furnished. The staff was friendly without being obsequious. The newly laid swimming pool, with its shower cubicles proving very convenient for a quick bath, was a great value addition. The Calangute Residency is in fact owned by GTDC alongwith few more branches in different parts of Goa including Panjim, Mapusa, Colva and others. The stay and experience at the hotel was good, the service was average, the main advantage was of the close proximity to the beach. Sea food was amazing and that goes without saying, never miss out on that one. Also, not forgetting quality liquor at good and cheaper prices.

The good: This is a goverment hotel located right on the Calangute Beach; in terms of location, it just can't get better than this. The AC deluxe rooms are clean and comfortable, with private sea-facing balconies having splendid views of the sea. You can just sit here, gaze at the waters and relax :). It was our Marriage anniversary and we decided to head towards the ocean to celebrate one year of marital bliss....!! All we wanted was a retreat near the serene goa beaches and Calangute residency seemed the perfect choice. This is quitessentially Goa - and you get the best of both worlds at this hotel run by the Goa Tourism Department. Definitely the best located hotel at Calangute - there is no hotel located closer to the beach here. You can actually step out of the hotel into the sand. Decent sized rooms - we were in a deluxe room in the main wing - the annexe is away from the beach. I stayed at Calangute Residency during 24 - 28 Nov. 2008. It is a wonderfully located resort. Probably one of the best locations in Goa. The overall ambience of a AC Deluxe room was excellent. Simple but very comfortable. The sea view was fascinating. One of the best places to have your evening drinks or morning cuppa. Watch the beautiful sunset from the extended balcony and N'joy the surroundings.
