The staff (except for the owners)were very efficient. It did take three days to receive a pot to boil rice in though. They should spray for mosquitos or at least put some bleach in the areas mosquitos breed. If you are a local the price of a room is 37.50 a night,which is about what they are worth. The hotel staff were very rude. I don't think those people ever heared the expression, 'A SMILE GOES A MILE'. The only good thing about the place was that the beach front was the biggest one on the whole 7 miles of hotel beach fronts. If you are a hillbilly from the states then you might like it. But if you have just a hint of good taste then find another place to stay.

The room was not a 5 star, the view was a Gold Crown..The sunsets were a memory that will never go away and keep me wanting to go back. The Fruit, Fruit, Fruit..Lady was a warm welcome at the end of a sun soaked day. Everyone was helpful...I walked to town, worked out in the gym, and learned how to dive..and loved the room, even though the ac was loud. Hot water for my shower, ac and a great time...

This was a complete and total nightmare. The staff has just down right rude and very unpleasant. We were cheated out of everything. The food was terrible. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I have been staying here every year since 1995 and I find it to be a great place to stay. The first week that I'm there, I party with my friends (both old and new) and the second week, my husband and I simply relax and just enjoy the ocean and the food, and some quality time. Mariner's is not a 5-star resort, which most of us Americans are accustomed to, but it is certainly clean and safe and the staff is wonderful. We've been going to the Beach Club every year, and for many. If we were traveling to Negril with our top priority being sterile, American-ized room decorum, on-grounds amentities, or other star-rated features, we would probably not choose this location - or anywhere in Negril for that matter other than the North-end upper scale all-inclusives. First of all we made our plans in mid December, which meant that we had absolutely no choices. We were able to get into Mariner's Beach Club because another party cancelled at the last moment. The gardens and grounds were excellently maintained. The beach area is very large and was even raked from the buildings to the water every morning. There were ample chaise lounges for all the guests. I have visited Negril before and love it, but this time stayed at MBR for 5 nights and didn't really enjoy it. The rooms were ok, but nothing spectacular and not all that clean. The comforter and pillows on the bed were the worst. There was only one towel and no washclothes provided for me in the bathroom. Luckily, I brought gifts and tips for the housekeeping staff, so they left me extras the next day. The pool is very tiny and the hot tub isn't all that hot either.
