Jamaican wedding...Let the good times roll!!
from A TripAdvisor Member
We planned our small wedding at the Whistling bird and had an excellent experience. The accomodations and the noise are different than if you would go to a Sandles or more inclusive resort. The noise and music are a part of the culture. The staff make up all the difference and they are what make the Whistling Bird a great place to stay. All 6 in our wedding party had a wonderful time and we all plan on visiting again. The kitchen staff are fantastic from the baked goods to the 5 course evening meal. The locals come from the beach to...

Unbearable noise.
from A TripAdvisor Member
The very cute and very nice staff of Whistling Bird was compromised by a lot of noise and peeping toms. They failed to inform me that "Fun Holiday" was built next door to them and it was noisy with a DJ from 12:00noon to 3:00am daily. They also failed to tell me (and I didn't think to ask) that a disco was built directly across the street from them, and that was open until 5:30am daily. This makes it difficult to sleep. As well, they college kids took all the loungers from Whistling Bird for themselves and parked themselves on that...

Another spectacular trip - many many thanks to Jim
from AmyD700
Another spectacular trip - many many thanks to Jim, his family and especially his staff. They went out of their way to ensure we had anything and everything we needed or wanted. We had a group of 14 this year and our stay went off without a hitch. We've had many dealings with various members and find this is an outstanding organization dedicated to the needs of the traveler. Superb!
Unique, cozy, rustic, friendly . . .

This review is very long overdue, but I was recently looking for some online photos of Whistling Bird and came across this review forum. We were married on the beach at Whistling Bird in May of 2001, and truly could not have picked a better spot. Several of our friends and family stayed in other cottages there, as well as some who stayed at other resorts. I wouldn't have traded with any other place. I was surprised to read a few of the negative reviews, and suspect they come from misguided persons. The Whistling Bird is not a big...

Beware of Whistling Bird
from A TripAdvisor Member
Booked package through Negril Resort - Jim Boydston - Whisting Bird. Went to airport to leave and there were no airline tickets. Paid Negril Resort over $1000 for tickets. Had to pay $2400 at the airport to get tickets to go. Was supposed to get refund back on tickets bought at airport. After eight months and contacting everyone we still have not received all of our money back. Check with Better Business Bureau before booking with Negril Resort - Whistling Bird - Jim Boydston. It will save you a bunch of time and problems.

This complaint has to do with Delta Airlines not converting an eticket to a paper ticket in Nebraska. Certainly upsetting, but the agent in Omaha handled it in this upsetting way. Delta has refunded this man, and Delta certainly takes some time. Further the credit card company customer used involved took forever to post it. I assisted customer from day one to rectify his problem. One of the reasons given by Delta for the delay is that as customer was getting a refund from airline but at same time dening his charges for the plane tix - more confusion. We never had one this complicated. The resort only facilitated customer to get package priced airfare. Its generally pretty smooth with airfare

Paradise Found
from A TripAdvisor Member
Wow. Just the thought of this little resort tucked away on the Negril 7 mile strip surrounded by a tropical trees and plants leave me breathless and speech. Paradise was certainly not what I expected as I drove by the many larger resorts that many recommended I stay at. I had expected a modest place with average service. Well was I in for a surprise. The staff their was extremely friendly. From the day you arrive to they day you leave you feel like you are at home...actually the spoil you rotten with attention so maybe I should say I feel...

Whistling Bird a very special place
from irisfan
We have stayed at Whistling Bird and I am amazed to read about any complaints about the place. Yes, there is one resturant that stays open only one night a week and plays loud music. So what, get out and enjoy yourself that night. I was able to sleep after a full day of snorkling and Chef Turner's great meals. The music did not bother me. I had NO need for air conditioning. The ceiling fans were just perfect and we went in AUGUST..the hottest month of the year. I loved seeing the laundrey haninging from the clothesline. The...

Beware!!!!
from A TripAdvisor Member
WARNING!!!! I made reservations with Jim, the owner in July/04 to stay at the hotel in December/04, in 3 one bedroom cottages. He collected the FULL payment and we booked our plane tickets. In September Jim sent a very rude e-mail saying that the 5 days I selected was causing him difficulty in booking other guests and that he was changing my reservations to 1 one bedroom cottage and a 2 room cottage (which is a 1 bedroom with a pull-out bed in the living room). I told him that was inappropriate for 3 married couples. He said that was all...

Best Beach Hideaway in Negril
from A TripAdvisor Member
I have stayed at many hotels of all shapes and sizes during my frequent visits to Negril. Yet only Whistling Bird emerged as my favorite, for many reasons. First, it is centrally located in the middle of Seven Mile Beach, making it convenient and walking distance to all points of interest. Of course the beach at "The Bird" is wonderful. Gently sloping, soft white sand beach, with clear, and perpetually calm waters. Although most of Negril Beach is special, the same can't be said about all the hotels near it. The setting it...
