Club Tropical

My husband and two sons 11 & 17 stayed from December 24th - 31st, 2006. The Christmas Eve evening was wonderful with plenty of very good food, turkey, lamb etc... Holiday decorations were everywhere and very tastefully done. Our first time spending Christmas south and would love to do it again. From Dec 9 to Dec 16 2006 I stayed at the Club Tropical. Very good hotel for one with a 2 star rating. Clean room, plenty of food, variety of dishes to choose from at each meal. There was plenty and a variety of fresh fruits, raw or cooked vegetables and meat / fish. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful at all times. The bar serves all the Cuban cocktails (mojito) delicious coffees and Cuban beer (Crystal). I was travelling with my parents and we had a 12-day trip to Cuba. We spent three days in Havana and then we moved to Varadero. Originally we had to spend the rest of our vacation at Club Tropical. However, on the first day we were so much shocked by the hotel that we changed our mind and changed the hotel for Hotel Brisas del Caribe (4-stars, all inclusive). Do not stay in this hotel. On websites, brochures etc it seems ok. It is not. We only stayed 3 nights, but on the day we arrived we discovered our toilet was broken (did not flush). We reported it 4 times to reception before it was fixed (about 8 hours later - so we had to use the restaurant toilet). Even after they fixed it, it broke after one flush. If you are spending your hard-earned money to fly to Cuba for a wonderful vacation, do it somewhere else. If you are currently booked into a Standard Room in Club Tropical, upgrade immediately - as in now! Otherwise you will find yourself in a 10x10 room that was built quite some time ago, with small windows, no ventilation, and all the amentities of one-star motel north of the 53rd parallel. We stayed at Club Tropical the week of Feb 6/06 and we enjoyed it as a 2 star hotel paying a discounted price I don't think the hotel is worth the full listed price. First, I would like to say that I am 27 years old and I went with my friend aged 27 years. Club Tropical is 3 stars hotel.I have all inclussice package.Hotel looks very nice.There is a beautifull pool with palms in the middle.The staff are very kind and friendly (especially the bartender).I think that for this money I gave I wont find hotel like this.Food is OK, nothing speciall but nice. Hey man , stop whinning about the fact that your room is small , the pool is not deep and dumb stuff like that , when I pay the cost for a 2 star hotel I only expect 3 meals , drinks , a bed and a beach , that's all I need ! If you're sad because you didn't get any daquiries or champagne with filet mignon , that's just being dumb , pay 2000$ and go to a 5 star ! Club tropical was fine for me .....................

This place was a dump! Please spend the extra money and get a minimum 4* hotel. I don't think their rating system is the same as ours. I stayed in a 1* hotel in Oregon that was far superior to this. At the Club Tropical, I had ants crawling up and down the wall that my bed was up against. The hotel room was the smallest I have ever seen. There was barely enough room to walk alongside the bed to get to the bathroom. The food was bland and the pool is quite small. Although Club Tropical is only a 2 1/2 or 3 star resort we had the tim of our lives. My friend and i decided to hit an inexpensive hotel close to the downtown area of Varadero so we could be close to all the action happening outside our hotel. We are both young 19 and 18 and obviously loooked for a location that was hype during the day and at night. our hotel was clean, but the room wasn't anything special, considering that it was only a 3 star hotel.
