Catalonia Rigoletto

I stayed here with my girlfriend for 5 nights. We had a good size room with a large bathroom. Everything was very comfortable and the staff were all friendly and willing to help with directions / requests etc. The room had a fridge and a safe. If we had to pick fault then it would have been nice to have a kettle in the room but the staff at reception were happy to give us hot water when we wanted it. The hotel offers free Wifi in the room but as we didn't have a laptop had to use the computer in the reception which cost 2 Euros for 10... more

wife and i stayed here after reading reviews on TA. Wife love the bathroom, bed was comfy, service good, walkable to the Metro, lots of buses and a streetcar nearby as well. Easy walk to Barcelona Stadium. We ended up at a match with no ticket problem. Paid 41 euro/ea at the gate, sat up high. Lots of restaurants nearby, we found a cleaner in the nearby neighborhood (Les Cortes?) a 10 minute walk. 11 Euro for a large bag of laundry, next day service. it's a lot cheaper than the hotel. Stayed here with a friend for the Merce '09 festival weekend. This is a very decent hotel to base yourself if you wish to tour Barcelona and not be in the thick of the city centre with the noise of la ramblas on your doorstep. Staff were always polite and spoke english well, although when checking in reception telling me off for me saying I was in Spain rather than Catalonia was unnecessary and not the best of first impressions, even though they may have been right! Read the reviews on TripAdvisor, found a great rate online for EUR64/night, booked it, and now recommending it ! Very clean, contemporary interior, and something important in Barcelona - it was quiet ! Close by the Metro, so access is easy enough. Booked it as I had an early morning flight the next day, and getting to the airport via public train from there was a breeze !

This hotel didn't look like much from the outside, but it's really lovely inside! We arrived around lunchtime on Saturday and after setting up were shown to our room. We had barely settled when the phone rang - the manager called to offer us a larger room at no extra cost! Needless to say we did not hesitate! It turned out to be a mini-suite with a sofa, coffee tabke and reclining chair with flatscreen TV (in addition to the one in the bedroom). We stayed three nights at this hotel and enjoyed the central location and friendly service. The Air conditioning in the room was good, they provide consistent and free wifi, but most important they are located very close to a metro station and a lot of shopping. For all this the price is quite good. The downside is the parking situation is a little uncomfortable and confusing. Once you get that figured out your good to go.

We had a great stay at the Catalonia Rigoletto; the place seems to be quite new, as the taxi driver hadn't heard of it, but I think it's going to be more well-known quite soon because it's a great hotel. The location is right next to the avenue diagonal, lined with shops, a tram, and a five minute walk to a metro station. The staff was really friendly, warm, and professional. I got there after a long transatlantic flight hot and exhausted and they let me into my room early. I turned on the A/C, showered, rested, and went to lunch in the dining room. For 8 euros, I got a salad, swordfish, asparagus and a bowl of cherries from Tarragon. The staff spoke Catalan and Spanish and English. This was an incredible hotel. The people were nice, the bathroom was luxurious, the beds were extremely comfortable, there was no noise, and the breakfast was the best we had in Europe. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. We had just left a quaint hotel in Paris with a tiny shower, no internet service, and an enormous amount of street noise. We enjoyed our hotel so much in Barcelona that we hated we had to go to Madrid :)

Visited this hotel twice in 10 days at someone's very good recomendation. Stay of one night and another of 2 nights. Facilities very good for a 3 star that borders on a four star small hotel (part of a large international chain). General facilities good for the rating (safe, mini bar, some useful toiletries, usual hairdrier etc).
